We went to Addie’s first game yesterday and it was so fun to watch those third grade boys playing football and the third grade girls cheering. I was impressed with the cheerleaders. Most of them really were doing great. Addie wasn’t the least bit shy and she gave it her all.
It was hot! The heat index was hanging around 100 and every now and then a cloud was pass over and cool us down just a bit. Vince and I didn’t stay the entire time because I forgot to use sunscreen and knew I was burning. One arm is sunburned but not terribly so.
We walked to the car, which was quite a hike in that heat and then across black asphalt. We got in the car and Vince said “I want something cold” and I said “ice cream” and he said “a salad” so we came home and made salads, and finally cooled off.
They went and ate after the game, then shopped a few places and came by here. Addie was so wired! She wanted to play ball with that big ball so she and Chad stayed out and played ball til almost dark.
On their way into town, they were early so they had stopped by here then too. So nice to get those little surprise visits.
Addie will miss next week’s game and then the week after that, the game is in a little town near here so we’ll be able to go to that one and I’m hoping it will be a bit cooler by then.

I remember going to so many little league games. My daughter was a cheerleader and my nephew was a football player. They were only a few months difference in their ages but they went to rival schools. It was interesting during the games but they were the best of friends. I have pictures of them hugging each other after the games and then re-creating those poses when they were in high school. Good times, good memories. Hope Addie enjoys her time cheerleading.

What fun and I’m so glad you get to be there to see it. The 2 oldest grandsons start flag football for the season in another week. The 4th grader has been playing since kindergarten, but his brother didn’t want to play until this year. He is a 2nd grader this year. Last spring we had a couple of grands playing soccer, and all summer one of the girls played softball. The other girl did gymnastics for a couple of years, but is really into her piano lessons right now. Whatever they are involved in, we try to attend some of the events because they grow up too fast. My girls always appreciate that my mother-in-law rarely missed an event their whole lives. She only lived a block from us, and loved attending her grandkids activities.
