I need to figure out a way for Flosstube to block me . . ban me for life! You know how you can say the wrong thing on Facebook and have to go to FB jail for 30 days or something. I need a life sentence banning me from Flosstube.
This morning Vince decided to wake up at midnight . . or so it seemed. I think it was about 4:30. There’s something wrong with anyone who wakes up before 5. You know how a normal person flips the covers back and crawls out of bed. Not Vince! He’s totally wrapped up in the covers. I ended up with one little corner of the sheet last night, and had to fight for that twice! So he wakes up and instead of unwrapping himself from all the covers . . ALL the covers, he rolls out of bed and takes what few covers I had . . pulled them right off me. I was thinking he was going to the bathroom, he’d come back to bed and he’d put the covers back on the bed and I’d wrap up in them so he couldn’t take them all again. No . . he was done. I heard him walking up the stairs. I got up, got the covers and by then . . I was awake.
I grabbed Facebook and checked on a friend who is very sick. No news so I started reading and got to a post by Vonna Pfeiffer. If you aren’t familar with Vonna, she’s the finisher for so many of the great stitchers. She has a youtube channel and she shares so much of her info.
So . . Vonna’s post. She had stitched Flag Waving Santa and she put it on a board from Homestead Needleworks. But . . she had used three colors of floss to make a brade to go around the cross stitched piece and it was so striking. Someone asked how she did it and she said . . just like two color but using three so then I went searching and found this video.
I will say that I had skipped over Flag Waving Santa until I saw Vonna’s. Hers looks so good that I had to order the chart too. And, I had to go on Amazon and find the Kreinik twister gizmo that Vonna was using. Vince was going to the hardware store so I asked him to get me a cup hook so he can make me a thing like Vonna’s husband made her. I’m so ready to make some braided cording but I guess I should get back to stitching . .

That’s a really good finishing video. I have a couple of cord making gizmos that I bought maybe 25 years ago – I made lots of cording back when cross stitch was my main needlework hobby. Actually, I had two of them and either a friend or my husband were often drafted into holding the other one while I twisted the cord. Of course her little hook method works as well. Brings back memories!
