Finally a day when I can sit in the basement, stitch with Boots without having to have on a sweater.
We found an a/c guy who will come out on weekends (for a price!) but he was already booked for today so he should be here tomorrow morning. If Vince likes him and feels like he knows what he’s doing, we’ll talk to him about installing a zoned system or even a second unit.
This afternoon, I decided to take a nap. It was 75 upstairs but I figured that wasn’t too miserable with the fan on. I slept a couple of hours and when I woke up, it was 80 and that was getting to be miserable.
At almost 9 p.m., it had cooled down to 79. Vince doesn’t want to sleep in the basement but I will. I don’t think I have a thermometer in the sewing room (where I am now) but it’s comfortable sitting here in short sleeves. I would guess the sewing room is 72 but it has four windows and two doors with windows. The bedroom has no windows so it’s probably 68 – 70 in there. That bedroom is the best place in the house to sleep so . . that’s where I’ll sleep but I’ll probably be up for hours after taking that long nap.
It’s the weekend an I had planned to keep stitching on A Changed World but since it’s in the frame/stand upstairs, I brought Away We Ride downstairs with me so hopefully I’ll get some good stitching time in between now and bedtime.

None of my business but why doesn’t Vince want to sleep in the basement? How hot was it there today? Stay cool Judy!

It was 98 last I heard. Tomorrow it’s going to be 99 and feel like 104. Our temps are going to be up neaer 100 through Wednesday so hopefully the a/c will be an easy fix.
Vince uses a Cpap so he has to bring all that down. Maybe it’s a bipap – it uses water so there’s a tank to bring down so he hates to have to carry all that down.
Vince isn’t a good sleeper and he gets up and goes to the bathroom a lot during the night (TMI) but the bathroom in the basement is actually fewer steps from the bed than the master bathroom from his side of the bed. Me .. I’ll sleep anywhere and except with a crazy guy has been knocking on our door, I fall asleep the minute my head hits the pillow and sleep through the night. Most night, I don’t even flip over during the night. I sleep in Addie’s room, our room, the basement . . wherever, and I sleep great.
I also think Vince gets used to one bed and it bothers him to change beds where that doesn’t bother me at all.
On the other hand, he has never slept in the basement here where I’ve done it often. When I was coughing my head off, I slept in the basement because it’s already more humid in there and I had a vaporizer running and that helped me be able to breathe. I can’t believe I was brave enough to sleep in the basement when I was here by myself but some nights I slept in the basement when I was here alone. I’m hoping that once Vince sees how quiet and dark and cool (well, maybe not so cool tonight but it won’t be hot) it stays in there, he’ll enjoy sleeping in the basement, at least during the summer.

I hope the a/c guy is out and fixes things and Vince likes him.

He actually came yesterday morning, added freon, ordered a part which will hopefully be here early next week. Right now, it’s cooling . . but not fixed.
