This morning at one point, we had the grass cutters, Monroe and Bob all here at the same time. You would have thought we had ad big project going on but not really.
Monroe is the guy who delivered the shop building and his trailer made a dent in part of the trim at the bottom. Vince told him it didn’t matter but he came by to replace that piece. When he was here last week, he commented on all my quilts and said his wife quilts so I grabbed one of my border books and gave it to him to give to her. Today he thanked me again and said she loved it and has gone through it page by page several times. They’re Mennonite and I told him that I thought about all the bright colors that I use because I know they don’t use bright colors. He said his wife commented on the bright colors and asked him if the quilts in the house were all bright. Monroe said he hadn’t even noticed if they were were not so I guess they weren’t TOO bright.
Bob is also a Mennonite. We are so lucky to have those guys who are such great workers and if they say they’re showing up at a certain time, you can bet they are going to be here either at that time or earlier. Bob is helping finish the inside of the shop. He came by today to make sure Vince has everything they need and he told Vince since it was a small job, he’d start on it right away and finish it. Vince asked if he would want to start in the morning and Bob said “No . . we’ll start right now and you’re my helper!” That was funny. Vince came in looking like someone had just given him marching orders.
Vince said Monroe asked Vince if he had used Bob for other projects and Vince told him no . . this is the first. Monroe said “He’s the best! You’ll be happy to have him working on your projects.”
I’ll say it one more time . . we’re so happy to be living here. Here’s another think I like. When I can stay home and not have to be out driving . . and I can these days . . I love thunderstorms. Look at our next few days.
I missed the rain when we lived in Texas. Oh, my . . I just looked out the window and it’s raining. I’m not so sure Vince and Bob are going to appreciate the rain right now. Anyway .. where we lived in Texas probably got more rain this summer than they got any year when we lived there but I’m so happy to have rain and a few thunderstorms, so long as they aren’t scary and tornado sirens aren’t going off.

I have your border book, though I haven’t used it….yet! And yes, I just love a good thunderstorm.

Love that you are around good honest folk – it’s such a good feeling to hear there are still some good people out there working.

These people are so good. The Mennonite guy told Vince he’d be back around 7:30 this morning and at 7:25, I looked out the window and he was already back there. I offered to fix lunch for him but he said he’d better eat what his wife packed for him. He did come in on his morning break and eat a slice of that pie thing I made last night. He told Vince “neither of us need to be up on a ladder getting the ceiling finished” so on Monday he’s bringing a grandson who is also a carpenter and they’ll finish up the shop.
