You blog readers may have to tell me . . ENOUGH . . with all this “I love Missouri” posting.
When Vince found the lawn mower he wanted to buy in stock at the store over an hour from here, he began trying to figure out how he could get it here. My unspoken suggestion was “Buy a real pickup!” but since I knew that wasn’t going to happen, I didn’t mention it.
He has a friend here who, at first seems rather grumpy. Everything is matter of fact with him. He’s brilliant so most anything you mention, he can tell you way more than you ever knew. But, he’s pretty set in his ways it seems. And, he’s definitely hard to get to know.
Vince called him to see about helping get the mower. He actually seemed really happy to help and it was kind of a big deal and took up a chunk of his afternoon to pull his trailer and drive over an hour there, get it, drive all the way back but he was happy to do it.
U-Haul here has one pickup and it’s always rented so I’m not sure what Vince would have done. The store here said there’s no telling when they’d get that particular mower in — they’re really hard to get.
The guy and Vince had been talking about something Vince has but has never used, not even once, and the other guy wanted to buy it. It’s another one of those hard to find things. At first Vince didn’t want to sell it but yesterday, Vince was so appreciative of the the guy’s willingness to stop everything and help him that Vince took it all over there and sold it to him. I think it did Vince good to see the other guy happy to get it and I know it did Vince good for someone to help him.
Then yesterday I was texting with a neighbor and this is how she ended the conversation.
The icing on the cake was when Chad called yesterday and said “Do you want to keep Addie for a couple of days?” and I was able to hop in the car, run down and get her. Right at one hour there and one hour back. So much better than 10 hours on the interstate, staying at their house or having a rented apartment with bare necessities, then driving 10 hours back.
I’m happy! 🙂

I love hearing you say how much you love living in Missouri!! Especially because now you both have more friends and can do more with Chad and his family! It was all worth it.

I just love hearing the joy in your words and how happy you are to have moved closer to Addie. My dad and his wife are close and my MIL lives with us, but neither have the same appreciation for my kids.
