Addie loves the diamond painting. I expected her to work on it for a short while and decide it was too tedious for her liking. She spends a couple of hours working on it and then finds something else to do for a while, then comes back to it. She keeps saying she LOVES it. She keeps thinking of friends she thinks would like diamond painting for their birthday gifts so I do think that means she thinks it’s pretty neat.
If you have children/grandchildren or really, any children in the 7 – 12 age range, you may want to consider diamond painting kits if you buy gifts for them and are always looking for something interesting to get for them.
This is the kit I got for her first and here’s her progress from yesterday.
For less than $12, it has everything you need, including all the little zipper storage bags for storing the diamonds. We watched a few videos before starting and one lady, who was doing huge, very detailed projects, recommended blu-tack instead of using the supplied wax so we ordered that.
In most of the youtube videos, they were recommending some kind of bead storage box because they said they spent too much time fumbling between bags looking for the right beads, then closing the bags back up. I looked at the container most were recommending them and it was $40 at JoAnn’s.
Addie loves snooping through everything and she remembered seeing this pill organizer so she got it and asked if she could use it.
I cut the “legend” off the bead envelopes and taped them onto the top of the pill boxes. You can see that this particular kit has 13 different diamonds. This inexpensive little pill box works perfectly.
123Stitch, where I order a lot of the cross stitching supplies, also has a few diamond painting kits but some of them are terribly expensive. Last night Addie and I were looking to see what Amazon has and she found Yoda. She loves Yoda so, even though it says it’s for adults, I read the comments and someone said a 12 year old could do it. She isn’t 12 but we ordered it anyway.
We ordered it late last night and it should be here today. Couldn’t have done that in Texas.
I’m surprised at how much she’s enjoying this. If she is able to work the Yoda one and she sticks with both of them through completion, I’ll probably order her another one for Christmas.
