First off – a reminder that all of my cross stitch projects are listed under the Projects – 2021 tab near the top of the blog. This is mostly for my benefit but you may find it helpful if you want to know what color fabric/floss or chart I used for a project. The finished projects are at the bottom and the unfinished projects are at the top.
Veterans’ Day at Twin Gables is finished!
I love this project! I stitched it on 32 count linen even though 36 count is my preferred stitching linen but I wanted it to be just a bit larger than it would have been on 36 count. Because I wanted to only use one strand of floss, I used Sulky 12 wt. Sulky has lots of colors but way fewer than had I been using the called for floss so getting the shading was not working as well as I planned so I changed some of the colors. I changed the house from two shades of tan/ecru to blue and ecru. The called for colors for the planters didn’t show up well on my white fabric so I changed those to blue. Because I added my uncle’s names, years of birth and death, the text box ended up way larger so I left off the background color on the box.
I’ve ordered a black frame and will be happy to have this one fully finished and on the wall!
This was my July Cross Stitch Camp project so I started it July 1 and finished on July 21.

Hi Judy! Your cross-stitch turned out great and I know it will mean so much to your dad that you are honoring your uncle this way. I was thinking it might be a nice idea (and it looks like you would have space) is to put a gold star next to the last name of your uncle. Just a thought… I enjoy reading your blog
