Starting A New Project

Sometimes I struggle to start a new project. It’s the same with knitting and even reading a good book. I find that I sometimes drag out the last few stitches of knitting or cross stitching or take forever to read the last chapter in a good book. Other times, I can’t wait to finish one and start another.

Addie is here so things are busy. Vince still doesn’t feel great so he needs extra TLC. Deciding on the next project has been a struggle. Plus, even though I said I wasn’t, I’ll probably do an August project for Cross Stitch Camp. I can start A Changed World on August 1. I had planned to start the project my friend sent me but that doesn’t qualify for the August Cross Stitch Camp project so I’m not going to start it. What can I really do in 10 days?

I could start and maybe finish Welcome Autumn by The Drawn Thread. I have Welcome Winter, Spring and Summer. One of the frames I ordered was for Welcome Autumn. It’s going to be done on 30 count linen and that’s the size I need to use to make it the size it needs to be. So confusing, right? <G>

I figured that would be easy enough to get done in 10 days or maybe I’d start that for the August Cross Stitch Camp project.

Yesterday I got the Autumn chart out to pull the floss. Oh, no! It’s charted for Dinky Dyes Silk and I have ZERO of that floss. I figured . . fine . . I’ll order it and it will be here in time for August 1. Nope. No one that I could find had many of the colors. I needed nine colors so I checked all the regular places I shop and none of them had more than two colors in stock. I went ahead and ordered from the shop that I thought was mostly likely to have this thread in stock; got an email that they had to order five of the nine. I asked them to send me what they have, order the rest and send them when they come in. I’m not about to start that for the August project because the five missing flosses may come in right away, may not come in til the end of August and may not come in til December!

I thought . . I’ll use DMC but when I looked, several pieces need shaded floss. There’s a conversion on The Drawn Thread’s website but it’s for Gentle Arts and several of those colors are out of stock everywhere. I give up on that one for now. I’ll just wait til all the Dinky Dyes silks arrive.

I do have a small redwork project and I think I have a silk floss I’ve never used so maybe that will be my August project but . . I still need something to work on between now and August 1. I could unpack boxess . . nope . . that’s a project for when it’s cooler.

I’ll come up with something!

I did get all but one row of the black flag done on Veterans’ Day. I should have that finished before Addie wakes up.
