There’s hardly a day that passes that I don’t remind myself how blessed I am to have the kitchen I have in this house. I love spending time in the kitchen and love having plenty of counter space and the second oven. I feel like I’m back to feeling normal .. I sure hope so.
It has been busy in the kitchen since I got up. The first thing I did was stir up two loaves of bread. Here they are waiting for their turn in the oven.
Don’t ask me why I picked such a busy day to re-season a couple of cast iron pieces. I don’t even know where these two pieces were stored in Texas but they needed a bit of TLC so I scrubbed them down, oiled them and they’ll spend most of the day in the oven. I bake them for a couple of hours and then let them stay in til they’re completely cool.
Ever since we started picking eggplant, Vince has been wanting Moussaka so I made that today.
Roasted all the eggplant, made the sauce.
Now it’s in the oven.
I can sit and stitch for 25 more minutes while the Moussaka cooks, then I’ll heat up rolls, we’ll eat and by then, it will probably be time to go get Addie.
A Granny’s work is never done! 🙂

Why do you wait I put mine in when I’m cooking something else. Just wondering. Do you do at higher temp.

I just had those two that needed to be done and they would take up so much room, I did them by themselves. One was a big Dutch oven but normally I do always have cast iron in the oven when I’m cooking something else.
