I put A House Is . . away to do the July Cross Stitch Camp stitching but I have five or six flowers left to stitch and a bit of outline stitching on the flower and it will be done. I have the frame here for it and since I’ve never framed anything and keep ordering frames, I need to make sure I can do this before I go any farther.
Every time I read that a stitcher has sent something to the framer or got something back from the framer, a bit of fright runs through me. I keep thinking . . what if I’ve ordered five or six frames, bought a dozen more from Hobby Lobby and no telling how many from flea markets and I don’t even like my own framing.
Then I tell myself . . even the best of framers had to start out as a beginner .. but they probably had someone who knew what they were doing to teach them. Oh well .. I have Youtube! 🙂
If all goes well, by the end of the day, I hope to have my first framed piece finished and maybe on the wall. I did promise Vince I’d make moussaka today; I have bread started; there’s a cast iron pot in the oven getting seasoned and I have to pick Addie up this afternoon so if anything doesn’t get done, it will be the framing but I can hope.

How do you season your cast iron pots?
Judy Laquidara says
Every time I wash my pots and yes, I squirt a drop or two of Dawn (or, if Vince has been buying detergent, whatever I find in the pantry) in the pot, add hot water, and clean them with a cloth. Then I wipe them dry and preferably on a gas stove, but not lately, I heat them up, rub a thin later of oil in them and heat til that starts to smoke.
When they need a total re-seasoning, I scrub them with a chainmail or, if there’s rust, I let Chad take care of it. Once they’re back down to either the iron or just a thin layer of seasoning, I rub then with oil, put them upside down in the oven with a pan below to catch the drippings and heat them for a couple of hours at 350 or whatever the smoke point is for the oil I’m using. Then I turn the oven off leave them in the oven overnight to cool. They should be good as new.
I had made a meatloaf in the cast iron loaf pan and stuck it in the oven with the tomato sauce just to get it out of sight and forgot about it for a few days. The acid in the tomato sauce caused a bit of rust so I stuck it upstairs in the Texas shop and it had been there for a while so it needed a bit of extra work.

Gorgeous frame – that is going to be beautiful!

Fabulous frame, anxious to see finished product. It will be beautiful! I still cannot figure out what is above the roof, between the birds. Can you enlighten me? Thanks!
Judy Laquidara says
According to the designer, it’s a “weird” flower.
Donna in KS says
definitely weird and on top of a house! well, no one has paid for anything I designed! what do I know?!?
Judy Laquidara says
It is kinda weird but it’s pretty so I stitched it. 🙂
