Vince did all the research. You know how he is. I don’t have a single clue why he chose what he chose but he went with Eufy. Here’s what he got and these are all affiliate links – meaning if you buy from them, I get a bit of commission:
This one is a light/camera combo. Vince ordered two of these and took down two existing outside light fixtures and replaced them with these.
He got several of these gutter mount cameras. He was hoping not to have to drill a bunch of holes but because the gutter guards are in the gutters (maybe screwed in – I didn’t ask too many questions), he came up with another way to mount them. He said there are multiple ways to mount them and they’re very easy to mount.
EDIT: I thought Vince got everything from Amazon but he didn’t. He got the 4 camera kit directly from Eufy.
The doorbell – there is a hardwired doorbell, which we used because the wiring was there, and there’s a battery powered doorbell. The link is to the hardwired dorbell.
I think you can also hook the doorbell into an existing chime/box (whatever you call the noise maker) but the doorbell came with a little box that plugs into an outlet so we used that.
Vince probably would not have installed all the cameras today had it not been for the visitor last night but he installed them all today. I’m not going to show all the areas we have covered but I can see it all from my phone. My phone sends out an alert when the cameras or the doorbell see a human or animal. From one screen on my phone, I can see what’s happening now on all cameras, I can turn on a floodlight on each camera or all cameras and I can make an alarm sound from each camera, as well as speak through the camera via my phone.
I feel like I’m talking way out of my league but I hope anyone interested can figure out what I’m saying. The bottom line is that while the setup wasn’t inspensive, it wasn’t horribly expensive. Vince said it was amazingly easy to set up. As he was setting it up, he kept shaking his head and saying ‘this thing is so smart!’.
Here’s what I can see from the front door camera (which is what Vince named it though it isn’t really at the front door – it catches people walking up to the front door).
I think the image quality is great, even though you see the butchered side of those shrubs <G>.
If you have any questions, you can ask and I’ll see if Vince can answer them.

This is going to be such a great feeling of security for you. Good work Vince!
Judy Laquidara says
I’m so proud of him. It all seemed so effortless for him and yes, I do feel way more secure with all that out there. I’m sure there are ways around it but there are quite a few cameras out there so . . for now, I’m feeling secure.

Way to go Vince

You didn’t link to the camera, only the mounting method. If you add a link to that it would be helpful. That way when I decide to buy I can find it so you get the commission.
Judy Laquidara says
I edited the post to fix that. Sorry and thanks!
Sharon says
Thank you. I’ve been thinking about getting something too. I’ll take a look at those.
Judy Laquidara says
There are many options. All probably have pros and cons. Vince was really happy with how easy these were to install and set up with our phones.

Thank you and Vince so much! I am definitely looking into this.

Does it go through your wi-fi? Do you have to subscribe to a service?
Judy Laquidara says
It does go through the wifi. There’s memory (maybe 16 GIG) but at the end of each day, we delete the videos we don’t need to save. They say the 16 gig should last for one year but I’m not sure if that’s if you have only one camera vs. multiple cameras. There’s a subscription where they keep the videos for 30 days. For multiple cameras, up to 10 cameras is $100 per year.
You do not have to subscribe to anything.

Show pictures of your house and yards. You talk about them so much would love to see them!

I’m thinking maybe I should get some of those cameras. If nothing else I can watch the deer eating my plants…
Judy Laquidara says
That made me laugh out loud.

My husband installed a doorbell camera and a light camera about 2 years ago, between the two of them you can see everything that happens at the front of our house. We had it for about 2 months and the constant alarms going off every time someone walked past our house drove me nuts, so I turned off the alerts. The only prowlers we seem to get are raccoons, snooping around the garbage cans and the fruit trees.
Judy Laquidara says
We only get notifications if someone is within 8 feet of the house so people walking or going down the road don’t send alerts. Vince walking Rita right in front of the camera . . 20 times a day . . I do get alerts. 🙂
