I feel like a wimp for whining because so many people are really sick. Covid seems to be taking over our area again. Hospitals are filling up — vaccinated people are being admitted too but hopefully, they won’t be as sick. Masks are not mandated but many, including myself, are starting to wear masks when out. It’s crazy but I’m back to feeling safer at home.
My days are all confused but I think I started feeling bad on Sunday, got worse on Monday and went to the doctor on Tuesday morning but it might have all happened a day earlier. All my symptoms pointed to an allergic reacton which I’ve had many times when workng around tomato plants. Why can’t I remember that from one year to the next? Probably the same reason I can’t remember where I put the Cinnabons that I got at the drive thru today!
I got a steroid shot on Tuesday and from then on, I got worse. Fever Tuesday night and Wednesday. Stuffy head and nose. Thursday I had no fever but my right ear was hurting and I didn’t feel like doing anything. Addie was such a sweetheart. She made sure my water glass was full, kept asking if I needed a fresh box of Kleenex. She told me she knew how to do laundry and she would do that for me but I was pretty caught up on laundry. She was happy to fix herself chicken strips in the air fryer. I never thought I might have Covid but wanted to keep my distance from her so I washed all the insulated cups and had her bring me a clean one each time and I would take my dirty cup to the kitchen, wash and clean it thoroughly.
This morning I decided . . the weekend is coming, I don’t want to get worse so I went back to the walk in clinic. Got an antibiotic shot and antibiotic pills. The nurse practitioner said sometimes the steroid shot opens up everything and overwhelms the sinuses. When she mashed on my sinus areas, I about came off the chair. She said my lungs were clear and with the other symptoms, she didn’t think there was any need for a Covid test. That makes me happy.
It’s been about six hours since the injection and I do believe I’m feeling better. Maybe I would have felt better without going to the doctor but I’ll take the antibiotics and hopefully be back to normal soon.

Hope you are feeling better soon and sure as heck hope you found those Cinnabons!!! 🙂
Judy Laquidara says
I have not found them. How crazy is that? I came in the house with them but what happened after that . . no one knows.

Hope you feel much better soon! I once ‘lost’ a can of biscuits. They exploded later!
Judy Laquidara says
You found them! 🙂
Where were they? I get in a hurry, start one project, then go to do something else without finishing the first project and goodness knows what I do with whatever was in my hand.

Hoping you get feeling better fast. I have bad sinuses during allergy season and my self administered sinus test is to bend over. If head pain is worse, definitively it’s sinus problems.
Judy Laquidara says
Yes, that test works for me too but since moving here, I seem to have forgotten a lot of those tricks . . like don’t touch the tomato plants and bend over and head pain indicates sinus issues. Thanks for the reminder.

Just curious – do you have reactions to other members of the nightshade family (potato, pepper, etc?)
During post ice storm cleanup, I would start coughing when I was around certain leaf mold/lichen. When I put on a face mask, the situation improved. So, would using a face mask and gloves reduce the allergic reaction to the tomato vine?
Judy Laquidara says
I don’t think I have a reaction to the peppers or potatoes but I don’t deal with those like I do tomatoes. I stake them, tie them up, pinch suckers, had my nose right in the middle of the vines looking for those hornworms. Probably a mask and gloves would help but from now on, dealing with the tomatoes will be Vince’s job.

I hope you’re feeling better, Judy! xo connie

Woke up with fever again this morning. Unless this mess clears up very quickly, my plans for this week are going to have to be scrapped. 🙁
