I know all grandmothers think this about their grandchildren . . except mine probably didn’t think it about me but Addie is such an easy girl. That should change any day as she gets closer to her teen years.
This morning I went to wake her. It was after 9 and Vince and I were about to have breakfast. Chad was always such a grumpy bear when I woke him, no matter what time it was. I had walked into Addie’s room and was picking up some things on the floor and she sat up in bed and said “BOO!” with a big grin. I asked her if she wanted to get up and have breakfast with us and she said “Sure!” , grabbed her clothes, got dressed, brushed her teeth and was in the kitchen asking me if she could get spoons and forks for our breakfast.
When we were in Walmart the other day I found these shorts – Nicole calls them “legging shorts”. They were two pair for $3. Walmart quality but they should last her through the summer. They had these cute shirts for $4. They were regular $5.50 and I got her two of those. Walmart wasn’t around when I was a kid but I would probably have squawked at buying my clothes there. Addie’s always happy with whatever I get her, whether it’s from Goodwill or Walmart. In fact, because she never has the shoes we need, Vince bought those tennis shoes at Aldi and she loves those.
I doubt she stays so happy and easy to please but I can hope. And, when she isn’t, her parents can do all her shopping.

It’s funny, because Walmart was around when I was growing up, but I grew up right there in your area and I think we were among the first to get stores when they started opening them. I would NEVER have entertained the idea of buying my clothes there. But now that I’m older, and hopefully wiser, I realize I’m not going to spend lots of money on clothes I may not even like next season. I do occasionally buy clothes at WM but I’m careful to make sure I buy clothes that are made pretty much anywhere but China and are made such that I think they will hold up for at least one season. A couple weeks ago I even bought some shorts from the thrift store….some that are considered high end brands but I paid very little for them. Funny how my perspective on clothes buying has changed over the years.

Definitely my perspective has changed. A huge percentage of the clothes I buy never see the outside and I’m terrible about cooking in whatever I have on so I no longer buy expensive clothes.
I remember I was an adult and married and we went camping in Arkansas, stopped at a Walmart to buy a fan and that was the first time I had ever been in a Walmart.

I think Addie looks so much like Nicole in that picture. She is growing up so fast.
Judy Laquidara says
She really does look a lot like Nicole and a lot like Nicole’s mom.

Pretty girl, darling outfit. Having two sons, I don’t recall the last pink anything I bought. Lucky you!

Your last sentence had me laughing out loud. Just give her back. Had I my ruthers I would have stayed with my Nana until I went off to college at 17.

She seems to me to be the type of child that is happy with anything anyone does for her. I don’t know if that will change or not. Sometimes it stays with them. Let’s just hope she is one of those. I have a feeling she is. She had/has good teachers.

wow – she looks so grown up!
