Yesterday after we picked Addie up, we decided to run over to Aunt Toadie’s in Kansas to eat. They have a fried pork tenderloin that I love and we hadn’t eat then there in well over a year.
It was hardly cloudy on our drive to get Addie and it wasn’t until we crossed into Kansas that it looked like it might rain. We ate and just as we were about to leave, it started raining. By the time we got back to the highway, it was pouring so hard.
We crossed back into Missouri and there was no rain. It was kinda weird that it seemed to stop just at the state line.
About halfway home, the sky got dark and it sprinkled a little.
Even though we drove through hardly any rain along that stretch of the highway, as we got farther south, we could see where those dark clouds had dropped a lot of rain.
Almost the whole way home, off to the west, it looked like Kansas might be getting a lot of rain.
The weather can be really funny when you see blue skies on one side of the highway and dark, heavy clouds on the other side.
It was a fun day. I think Addie enjoyed the discussion about the clouds and the rain.

Summer rain always amazes and amuses me. It is crazy when it is raining on one side of the street, and dry on the other. It is such a crazy phenomenon.

At our 40+ years home we were across the street from the arKansas River (that’ how it’s pronounced in KS!!). So many times we could stand on our porch and watch the rain showers come up or across the river, just wait for it to get to us. It is interesting to see how much rain different areas get out of the same looking sky! As long as it doesn’t get violent, weather is both crazy and interesting. One time watching what was coming, husband hollered, “to the basement” and for the first time ever, he followed!

We live about 3 miles from the Atlanta Braves stadium. We had a gully washer last night complete with thunder and lightning. I was watching the ballgame. The announcers were talking about the thunder and lightning. And they didn’t get a drop of rain.
