Today while in town Vince wanted to stop by the flea market. He’s determined to make me a dough bowl. He won’t pay $80 for a dough bowl but he paid $60 for some kind of old hand tool to make it bowl .. that may or may not get made.
We were walking in different directions and when we met up, I asked him what he found and he named off a few things including a “book you may like to read”. Hmmm . . I have about a year’s worth of books already picked out from the library but maybe I’d want to read it. We got up to the counter and he plopped it down in front of me and started laughing.
I kinda raised my eyebrows, the lady at the counter laughed. My guess is neither of us will read this one. Vince is a collector of books and rarely reads.
Walking out, I saw this sign. That might help things around the house more than a reliable wife! 🙂
Then there was this one. It’s a good thing there’s love and laughter around here! Funny how we can look around and make things fit our circumstances.

Ha, I read it a few years ago.
You will like it. Vince may look at you in a whole different light after he reads it.

That’s an interesting comment! Will he look at me as a reliable wife or a worthless dependent?? 🙂 Doesn’t matter I suppose. He’s got me now! 🙂

That book sounds interesting…..so I found in my library and borrowed to read on Kindle.

That’s what I did too. I read the Amazon reviews so I’m not sure how far I’ll get into it.

I think you (and I for different reasons–I need it at work) need that complaint department sign! That cracked me up. I haven’t read that book, so I have no opinions there. (just reminding myself not to judge the book by the cover. LOL)

This is kind of a random question, but what is the difference between cajun and creole seasoning? Thanks for any info you can provide.
Judy Laquidara says
Very good question. The cajuns are generally considered to be the Acadians who settled in south central and southwest Louisiana where the creole people were more in southeast Louisiana, especially around New Orleans and they came from Italy, Africa and other countries. There is a distinct difference. As far as seasoning, in my mind, cajun spice is more peppery – white pepper, red pepper, bell pepper, etc. whereas creole seasoning is more herbal. I almost always use cajun seasoning.
As far as food, creole food generally has tomatoes and cajun food doesn’t. Tomatoes in gumbo will send some cajuns over the edge. Many will say you NEVER put tomatoes in gumbo but some do it and think it’s necessary. While I grew up in the cajun area, my family is from north Louisiana and I have not one drop of cajun blood but . . I do not put tomatoes in gumbo.
It’s hard to even know any more. Cajun restaurants serve creole food; and vice versa. I just consider it all Louisiana food and it’s all good! 🙂
