When we first got the solar powered hummingbird feeder, I washed it, filled it and set it out. It was only out a little while that day so it didn’t light up. The second night I forgot to check it. The third night, I was so excited to go out and see it. Dark. Nothing.
The next day I asked Vince if he would look at it. Duh . . It has an on/off switch and I hadn’t turned it on. Who knew??
It’s so pretty!
Yesterday I went out front to water the plants on the front steps. There’s one feeder not too far from there and a hummingbird with a bit of an attitude must have thought I was after his food because he kept circling around my head and I almost had to swat at him once for coming too close. Crazy little bird.

Don’t feel bad. A friend gave me a solar hummingbird wind chime for Christmas. Only neither of us knew it was solar. About 4 months later I saw one advertised that look like mine. I went out and checked and saw the on off switch. I was so excited. ?

Maybe he was thanking you for the food – or telling you to refill!

Now that would have been a pic to get Being chased by the humming bird!

It happened fairly often in Texas. They almost got in Vince’s hair several times.

I remember reading an article a few years ago about hummingbirds, titled something like: “So Small, So Quick, So Mean?” It talked about their high metabolism rate (a lot of energy to power those wings!) and how they need so much nectar to fuel that. I think they spend much of their time simply eating, and I think many of us have witnessed territorialism. I think the little “chip”s they make are fighting words! Still beautiful.
