I’ve talked about this and probably shown pictures of the setup inside the entertainment center door before but I’ve made a really neat improvement that I wanted to share.
Remember these magnetic plastic ties that I use to keep the excess fabric away from my stitching?
Keep those in your mind for a second.
I’ve also shown how I put Command hooks on the inside of the entertainment center door next to my chair.
I have the floss ring with the floss for the current project on there. I have the little piece of cardboard with a magnet glued on it for the needles I’m not using but grab when I add an extra color and I have a Command hook for scissors.
I included the arm of the chair in the photo so you can see how close it is to reach over and grab what I need.
But a couple of weeks ago I got the idea to loop one of those magnetic tie things through the “handle” on the door. With this entertainment center, the doors can be closed in the center . . if you had a TV in there (I have quilts) and you wanted the TV not to show, close the doors to the center and leave the outside sections open. Or, leave the middle open and close the doors to the outside sections. Here, we leave the doors open for the center so the quilts show. In the outside sections – one has Addie’s drawing supplies, my DMC containers and the Sulky thread containers. Another shelf holds a bunch of candles. The other side, which sits closest to my chair, has the Command hooks on the door and on the shelves are bags with cross stitching projects kitted up. One shelf has the stereo receiver and the top shelf has pencils, stapler, cardstock, and various supplies like that.
Those little magnets are so strong and I can pull a pair of scissors off without the magnets separating and if I just get the scissors close to it when putting them back, it grabs them and holds them security for me.
Such a perfect solution to keeping my scissors handy.
