Yesterday we did the meatloaf taste test using two different ground meats from two different farmers/ranchers. I had mixed up the meat loaf the day before so all I had to do was bake it and make the sides, which were roasted beets and colcannon.
Just like the burgers, neither meatloaf was bad and if served to someone not knowing about the taste test, I doubt a difference would even be noticed.
The same meat that won the hamburger taste test won the meatloaf taste test. There wasn’t enough difference that I’ll only buy one and never buy the other but when it’s more convenient, I’ll buy the winning meat and when not, I’ll buy the other. The winning meat I can buy about 10 miles from the house and the other, I can buy about 4 miles from the house – not a huge difference in distance. The winning meat is a good bit less costwise than the other.
Mostly it was just a fun little challenge.
