I’ve been watching the sales at Michael’ and Hobby Lobby for frames on sale. I’ve found some nice ones and it’s fairly easy to do a little space adjusting on cross stitch projects if I know ahead what frame I want to use. Storing a bunch of frames ends up taking up space though so I don’t want to go overboard.
There are a couple of antique stores/flea markets here that Vince likes walking through and I’ll sometimes go and look for frames. I saw one the other day that I didn’t get but it was a wide (or long. . depending on how you turn it) framed mirror. I’m thinking it was probably at least 36″ wide and about 10″ long and the whole thing was $10. I stood there and looked at it and talked myself out of getting it because it was an odd size but the more I think about it, the more I think I might ought to see if it’s still there and get it. There have been a couple of long, narrow charts lately that have caught my eye.
This is a framed piece I bought there for $8. Vince said “Oh, I like that! Where will we hang it?” I said “I’m buying it for the frame. I’m not hanging the picture” – though I do like it a bit. He kept saying . . I hate to just throw out the picture. I told him that we’ll leave the picture in it til I come up with the perfect cross stitch piece and then we’ll dismantle it and take the picture out and he can decide what he wants to do with it. The inside of the frame, edge to edge is about 23.25″ so it’s not really huge. Someday I might stitch something that will fit in that spot and then I’d be really happy with my $8 frame.

Goodwill is sometimes a good place to find frames

I’m not a fan of the Goodwill in Joplin. Also, it’s super hard to get in and out off a really busy street. There are supposed to be some good flea market/second hand stores in NW Arkansas so we may run down there one day. I’m only about 45 minutes from that area, if I can time it right with traffic.

Know I was looking for frames for a picture of my sons bought this large poster one son and hubby both decided. Where it would hang as was even when the glass broke they still hang it there ,it comes down at Christmas for others to go up.it never did get used for his picture and it is over 10 years now,I normally had frame sizes I needed in my bag hen I went out.that helped me get the right size I needed ,mind you I still have some to frame.

Oh, goodness! Men! That’s funny.
I haven’t gotten close enough to finishing things to know what sizes I need so I just buy willy nilly and that’s so wrong . . I’ll end up with a house full of frames and not thing that fits them. I’ll do better. 🙂
