My plan was to stay up til midnight and at 12:01 a.m. take the first stitch on the June camp project. Not happening. It’s another hour til midnight and I’m sleepy. Vince is already in bed and I still have to take a shower. Why do I do this??
As I suspected, I didn’t get a single flag finished before putting this away til the June camp project is done.
I was going to press it and put it away but I think I’ll just fold it and stick it back in the project bag.
One of the things I think that has me drawn to cross stitching is the availability of patriotic designs, love of country, love of family and love of God designs. That’s refreshing after some of the things that have gone on in the knitting community recently. If someone prefers not to stitch those kinds of designs, there are plenty more and to me, the stitching community is much more . . not really “tolerant” but not in your face with their ideas and I’m loving that.
With today being Memorial Day (if I hurry up and get this posted .. if not, I can take a stitch on my June camp project — win/win), there were so many patriotic designs shared on Instagram and, of course, a couple are coming to stay at our home and maybe some day get stitched.
I ordered Long May It Wave (and if the link isn’t working when you see it, the chart is probably sold out). I may work on that chart and change “It” to “She”. I also ordered Patriotic Poppies from Kitten Stitcher. I saw this one stitched on a bit darker fabric and it was beautiful.
This one is a free design from Plum Street Samplers – A Patriot’s Sampler.
Heck . . it’s just 35 minutes til midnight. Shall I stay up? Maybe I’ll run take a shower and come back and take a few stitches on the June project . . like anyone is up this time of night reading this post! 🙂

Oh, yeah! I forget about those where the night is still young, even when it’s late for us here in middle and even later for those in the east.

So are those of us in the St. Louis area who can’t sleep!
Judy Laquidara says
I’m sorry. Sleepless nights are no fun. Hope you don’t have to wake up too early.

I’m up reading your post, but I’m in CA

You’re like me – you’re always up! 🙂

Have you read the poem “On Flanders Field”? Or at least I think that is the name of it. It was what inspired this lady to start the drive to have the poppy as the symbol.

I completely agree with you about the flag, God, country patterns. There are so many of them and they are lovely. I’m working on God shed His grace on thee and am really enjoying it. I’m on the third blue field and then will start of the red and white stripes.
