This has probably been one of the least productive stitching weeks I’ve had since I started stitching. A couple of days I was dealing with strawberries and rhubarb. I cooked two more time consuming meals. I worked in the little garden some. I don’t know what else I did but it wasn’t stitching!
Only a few charts arrived. I forget each week what I’ve shown that has arrived and whether I shared links when I ordered it so from now on, I’m going to put a sticky note on charts as they come in, then take the note off as I share them so hopefully you won’t be seeing the same chart over and over and thinking I’ve lost my mind . . which we probably should not rule out!
Anyway, here’s what I think arrived this week:
These are the Welcome Seasons charts by The Drawn Thread. I had planned to use one of these either for July (a new to me designer) or August (something I’ve never used) since the recommended floss is Dinky Dyes. But, there are a LOT of color changes in these and those slow me down. I’m definitely going to do them at some point because I want them on my mantel but I may not do one for Camp Cross Stitch.
This is Big Red House by La-D-Da. I don’t think I’ve done one of their charts before. This one doesn’t have a lot of color changes and the stitch count is 120 x 92 so that should be fairly easy to get done in a month.
I love what the verse says and I love red houses. Isn’t it funny that our house here has red brick. I have always loved red brick and Vince always said he doesn’t like it but he says he likes the color red of our bricks.
This one may be my July project.
This one is Christmas at Hollyberry Farm. I have a couple of other Hollyberry Farm charts. I seriously might change the house to red. This one is not on the possibilities list for Cross Stitch Camp.
Another not on the Camp Cross Stitch possibilities list but I do love this one. I love the colors. What happened to my love for lime green, purple and gold that I used so much in my quilts? I used to say (and still do) that Vince’s favorite colors were light brown and dark brown and I think that thinking has rubbed off on me. Ever since I first saw this chart, I wanted to make it but, at least for me, it’s big – 406 stitches x 95 stitches. The 95 I can do but the 406 . . I don’t know. This chart has probably been in and out of my cart a dozen times. I saw it recently on one of Salt Box Stitcher’s videos – maybe even an older video and I thought . . I really want to make that, but again . . the size.
Then a day or so later, I was looking at the space over the entertainment center or even up over the wide opening between the living room and breakfast room and this would look wonderful in either spot so I ordered it. The called for fabric is 32 count and using that count, this piece would be almost 25-1/2″ long and 6″ wide. That’s a great size for either of those spots but dang . . how much would a frame that size cost? I guess if I have to ask, I can’t afford it.
I would probably like stitching it better on 36 count, which would make the length 22-1/2 but the width would be down to 5-1/4.
I don’t have to decide on the count today. I need to go back and see what Carol/Salt Box Stitcher used. Her piece was already framed and just perfect in my opinion. That’s it . . I’ll use whatever she used. If any of you come across Carol’s video where she talks about that, please send me the link. I have plenty of time . . I’m sure I’ll find it eventually. Thanks!

Good morning, Judy. Love your new home…seems perfect in almost every way for you and Vince.
Your stitching is beautiful and I love seeing all the new and interesting “flossies” that you have planned. I have not jumped on the stitching bandwagon (although you are seriously tempting me). I have been ramping up my love of quilting lately. I thought for a while I may have to refer to myself as a “former” quilter, but thankfully I am back in the swing of things. Heck, I even started blogging a bit again!
Enjoy your weekend!

I keep thinking IF I could get the sewing room put together, I might sew or quilt again but so far, not making much progress in there.

Check out goodwill for your frames they are much cheaper might take a little while to get the size you want but that’s half the fun of the search isn’t it. I am really enjoying your blog, thankyou so much for sharing, what do you use your freeze dried strawberries for.

I have found a few nice frames at a local flea market but the Goodwill here is a bit pricey and the store here didn’t seem very inviting. I think we left and both said “not going back there!” I’ll do a blog post on using the freeze dried strawberries.

Check out Episode 1 to see that chart. Towards the end. You/Vince could make a simple frame using wood trim pieces. It wouldn’t need to be perfect since the chart is primitive. Check with Mr. Google for primitive frames for needlework. Okay that’s my 2 cents for the day.
