We’re not having scary storms . . well, if you ask Rita she might think otherwise. There has been a tremendous amount of thunder and lightning. Our power company seems to be having a hard time keeping the power on. It’s been off three times already this morning.
The storms were supposed to get here about 11 so we ran to town this morning. Hobby Lobby has art sets half off and I wanted to get one for Addie. I needed a few colors of DMC for the project I might make for Cross Stitch Camp. Vince needed something from Hobby Lobby so after breakfast, we ran to Joplin. We had planned to be home way before 11 and as we were driving home, the sky was getting darker and darker. We made in the garage just as the skies opened up. I started cooking dinner, because it has to simmer for two or three hours and before I ever got the meat browned, the power went off. I read on the Kindle for a while, the power came back on, I finished browning the meat and got the veggies started browning, the power went off again. It was off maybe half an hour, came back on, finished with the veggies and the power went off again for almost two hours.
The roux is made, the veggies and meat are in the gravy simmering. Let’s hope the power stays on at least two hours between now and 5 p.m. so the meat will be tender for dinner. I should probably stick it all in the pressure cooker but this recipe I like to cook long and slow. If it doesn’t work, I can stick it all in the fridge, and we can have something else tonight.
The poor freeze dryer . . been sitting here not used for six months and the first time we’re trying to use it, the power keeps going off.
We’re in between storms now but this is supposed to go on through about 11 tonight so . . if I don’t make any more posts, it’s simply because the power is off and my cell phone doesn’t have a strong enough signal for me to use the internet without wifi.

Mother Nature must be angry. One day last week I picked my son up from work at 3:30 in the afternoon and the sky was getting really dark. My son said that it looked like a wall of rain was headed our way. About ten minutes later it was a hail storm that looked like a white-out snow storm. There was no visibility in any direction. Everyone was going about five miles per hour trying not to hit anything. In all my almost 64 years, that was the worst storm that I’ve ever seen.

That is crazy. Hope you never see that again!
