We’re waiting at DMV or whatever they call it here – hoping to get our licenses and plates today. No idea how long the wait is – probably at least an hour. Wish I had my cross stitching but then I’d need a magnifying lamp so I wish I had my knitting.
Denise Russart says
You need to kit up one of those sled stitches on the perforated paper to keep in the car for “waiting” cross stitching since it’s on bigger count.

Geat idea and I even have one all kitted up in a bag that I had started working on. Wish I’d thought of that. I’m going to make a kit tonight, put it in Vince’s car, which is the car we use for all our running around, and beg him not to take it out . . EVER.

It is the DMV in Missouri. I lucked out when I renewed my license plates this month. I walked in, waited about 2 minutes for an agent to be free, and was out of there in under 10 minutes. I have to renew my drivers license next month. I’m guessing there may be a longer wait on that one…
Judy Laquidara says
Here, the same people do the licenses that do the license plates. We waited just a little over an hour and then it took about a half hour to get both our driver’s licenses and the registration/plates for the three vehicles.
Joyce says
Ours is in the same office too, there are just fewer people working on the driver’s license end. I guess there are more vehicle type things to be licensed so it requires more people.
Judy Laquidara says
Here, the same ladies do both. One lady did our licenses and our registrations for the vehicles. The lady beside us did a couple of driver’s licenses and then a vehicle registration while the one lady was taking care of Vince and me. There were four ladies doing the license and registration and one lady doing the final steps – eye chart, sign test and payments for licenses.

I don’t think I ever waited a whole hour in Phoenix! Fortunately, once you’ve done it, you can renew through the mail. Or in TN you can.
Judy Laquidara says
You could in Texas once, then you had to go in to the office and do it, then you could renew once again. Here, you have to go in to the office to renew every time – every six years if you’re under 70 and every three years if you’re 70 and over.

I live in Wyoming. Drivers licenses are handled through the state department of transportation. It takes a while at the drivers license place. The license plates are handled by each county, and you can get the renewal stickers in the mail. I haven’t been into the court house for license plate stickers since the beginning of covid. It’s funny how each state is so different in how everything is handled.
Judy Laquidara says
What’s really funny is that we already had all three of our vehicles licensed in Missouri once and we both had Missouri drivers’ licenses once but that didn’t matter .. start all over again.
Donna in KS says
It isn’t difficult in KS, IMO. What I really wanted to say though is, I always have a book in my purse/bag and maybe even a quilt magazine. I cannot just sit and wait anywhere. I would rather have my own thing to read than something that’s sitting on a table for anyone! I was that way already pre-Covid!
Judy Laquidara says
I used to be good about keeping my Kindle charged and grabbing it before we left to go anywhere. I do need to get back in the habit of doing that. Thanks.
