This morning was my annual mammogram except it’s been a bit longer than a year since the last one because of Covid. The hospital here has a long corridor . . probably where they’ve added another building to an older building. There’s a solid glass wall with a very long atrium type area with buildings on all four sides but completely open at the top. There’s a rock “creek” running the length with places where the water falls over and past rock embankments, then the water runs under one of the buildings. It was very pretty and as I was walking, I was thinking I would love to have a comfy chair sitting in front of the window so I could watch the water flowing while stitching.
As I walked a little farther, I came across this:
There were ducks and turkeys in there! That was pretty cool to see . . at the hospital!

Not your usual sight! Something to actually enjoy at the hospital.
Judy Laquidara says
Yes. I thought . . how pleasant to sit out here and watch those turkeys but . . no one wants to be in or at the hospital though.

My first thought was, “he’s been hiding out since Thanksgiving”…LOL

Hi Judy. A little background on the hospital. It was originally McCune Brooks Hospital and was located many years on Centennial. Carthage Water and Electric now occupy the building. The new hospital was built approximately 15 years ago. There are pods joined together by hallways with the water between the two main parts. Opposite the hallway you went down are patient some patient rooms. Seeing the flowing water is said to be healing. It’s interesting to be a patient or visiting a patient and watching the turkeys, geese and ducks. For patients needing physical therapy the area looks out on a small lake/pond. I had worked in Medical Records and had retired several months before they moved to the new building. I had both total knee replacements there and enjoyed the view. Also, my son had been a patient there I January/February. Now it is part of the Mercy system. There is a lot of history in this area and you seem to enjoy exploring. I’m going with my sister to Virginia Beach and Williamsburg in July and looking forward to seeing historical sites there.

Thank you for that information. Anytime I mention something, you are welcome to give me more info! It was calming just walking down that long haul, seeing the natural beauty . . even though I was going for a mammogram, which shouldn’t be too stressful but sometimes I can bet a bit anxious about that.
I did see a McCune Brooks paperweight on a lady’s desk and wondered if that had been the name of the hospital before being joined into the Mercy system. My doctor is a Mercy doctor so I’ll probably always be in the Mercy system.
Enjoy your trip to Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. There’s so much history there!
