After I picked Addie up after school yesterday, we went to get flowers (plants) for Nicole for Mother’s Day. I asked her if she wanted to go to Walmart and pick out flowers and a pot, then bring them home and put them together in a large pot, or we could go to 54 Seed & Feed, a feed store which has gorgeous plants and a gift shop. She wanted to go to 54 Seed so we went there. They probably had over 100 beautiful hanging baskets. Addie got out of the car and from a distance said “I see the one I want!”
She loved the pink and that’s the one she got. I put it on our front porch, hopefully safe from heavy rain and hail that may or may not happen before we hand it off to Nicole on Sunday.
There are lots of buds on it so hopefully there will be pretty pink blossoms for a long time.
I always pack a drink for each of us, and a snack for Addie. The drinks are always a Dr. Pepper for me and an A & W Root Beer for Addie. Yesterday I brough ther half a roast beef and Swiss cheese sandwich and a bag of chips. I had taken a big chunk of the strawberry angel food cake to Chad and Nicole so I cut off a slice to bring for Addie. She’s always hungry after school and she ate the half sandwich and said “Next time, please bring a whole one!” Ok! thought the cake was about the best cake she’d ever had.
Then we had this conversation.
Addie: I love this cake. This is my favorite cake of all the cakes you’ve made.
Me: I didn’t make this cake. I bought it at the German bakery. Remember . . I told you about that?
Addie: YOU BUY CAKES? I thought you only made everything yourself??
I should have let her keep thinking that!
