Vince is now inside (5:45 p.m.) but he still has a few things to do outside. We were talking about all we need to get done and I said . . it’s funny because when we bought this house, we thought we’d sit on our rear ends and twiddle our thumbs all day and we seem to be working as hard as we did in Texas! Vince said “harder”! Mostly it’s still dealing with the unpacking. It took me less than a month to realize if I unpack two boxes, he’s going to bring four more from the storage building so if I rummage through one and find the things I really want or need, fold the flaps back over to close it up, it still appears that it’s a full box needing to be unpacked so he doesn’t bring any more to the house.
This is what my counter looked like this morning for our late breakfast. I let Addie sleep til she woke on her own, which was about 9. I told her I was making biscuits, bacon, grits and eggs and asked if an omelette was ok with her. She said “The cafeteria ladies make them round, put cheese in them, then fold them over and the cheese melts. Can you make that?” Hmmm . . I can try my best. 🙂
Since it was late when we had breakfast, which is normal around here, I fixed potato skins stuffed with taco meat, cheese, black olives (which Addie loves!) and sour cream, and slider burgers on the small Hawaiian rolls. It was probably 3:00 or 3:30 when we ate and Addie said “Is this lunch or dinner?” I told her . . it’s just in between or . . you can call it lunch and we’ll have rootbeer floats for dinner! She said “We can really have rootbeer floats for dinner?” I said “Yes! When you’re at Granny’s we can do whatever we want! So . . rootbeer floats for dinner it shall be!
I made a double batch of dog food. I saved the broth from pressure cooking the chicken thighs and added some of the lighter meat and I’m going to make chicken and rice for us this week. I still have to package the dog food in bags and take it out to the freezer.
After the rootbeer floats . . it’s cross stitch time for me!

Vince started two things and Addie finished them. She seemed to like it and I think she’ll try more at home. There are so many things she wants to do here and today, Boot has been the recipient of most of her attention.

You’re a Grandma after my own heart!! What happens at Grandma’s stays at Grandma’s! 🙂 I’d love to do root beer floats for my evening meal sometime. Hubby would definitely fuss about it, but the grandson would love it! LOL! 🙂
