Yesterday Vince worked on the raised beds. I supervised from the deck looking down. Not really . . but almost. He asked me to come out every now and then and answer questions. Men can be weird/funny. On Thursday we went out and walked around, trying to decide where to put them. It seems every time we put something in a “permanent” location in Texas, that’s where we wanted something else and wished we’d thought things through better. It was hard to make a turn if driving around the shop because of one chicken coop location. I always wondered why we turned the greenhouse so the door was on the far end. Even though we didn’t put it in, the way the driveway was situated, it made it hard for UPS trucks to turn around and impossible for large trucks to turn around. I always thought . . 45 acres and it didn’t all have to be crammed into one spot. The well house was right at the end of the driveway on one side, a fence with welded posts for a large gate at the end and the shop on the other side.
We decided where to put the raised beds while out Thursday. Vince said “which way do you want them turned?” I wanted them going the say direction as the house (north to south). My thinking was that I could stand on the deck and see the 8′ side and see if there was anything that needed to be picked without having to walk out there. Lazy? Yes!
When he got the first two positioned, he called me out to look. Not exactly what I was thinking but I wasn’t going to say it after he’d already set them up.
Notice the old exercise bike out there! He only had one saw horse so the excercise bike is being used as a saw horse!
Today Vince will line it with landscape fabric and hopefully finish the other one and get it lined before the mushroom compost gets delivered.
When I mentioned the raised bed dirt we buy the other day, I said it was Keller brand but it’s Kellogg’s. They have a pretty nice website for gardening info. Here and in Texas, we bought it at Home Depot. It’s stacked under the solar panels for now.
The sun room is off the ground. The former owners had some plants kinda blocking the open area but we’re taking out the plants so Vince is going to put lattice along the edge so you don’t see under the sun room. We will plant something small that blooms in front of it and then on the next level, where more open area shows, he’ll also put lattice and I think that’s where we’re going to plant the raspberries.
Little things and big things. . . one step at a time being done.

Exciting. When I first saw the exercise bike I thought he was using it to power the saw. Crazy lady here.

Lol….maybe not as crazy as my first thought when I saw the photo. I thought it was because he was going to take breaks from building the bed and exercise!! LOL

Vince must have got exercise just bringing the bike outside

It actually has wheels on the front legs so if you tilt it up just a little from the back, it rolls!

You know, that looks like a pretty big yard. I bet you could find a spot for a cute little chicken coop and get a few girls. Just kidding!
