Yesterday I noticed a white Tyvek type unopened bag on the breakfast room table. I picked it up and it was addressed to me from The Loopy Ewe. I haven’t been ordering yarn so I wondered what on earth it might be then I realized it was postmarked October, 2020 and remembered that the 2020 Camp Loopy prize was shipped just after I left Texas. Vince told me he would bring it so I have no idea if he brought it when he was here last or if he brought it when he made the final move. I opened it and there were several surprises, one of which was this skein of yarn.
Who doesn’t notice their name in headlines? That would be Vince!
I said to him . . this is Wollmeise yarn, the “Pure” (meaning 100% wool) variety. Nobody is perfect means there’s probably little imperfections in the dying process or a knot or two in the skeins. Then I said “What do you see?” . . thinking he’d see his name, which is merely coincidence that the skein color is named after my husband. I doubt everyone got a skein named after their husband but . . you never know.
I showed it to Vince and said “Look at this label! Cool, huh?” Vince looked at the label and the skein of yarn and we had this conversation:
Vince: Wollmeise! I thought you weren’t buying any yarn!
Me: I didn’t This is the Loopy gift that came in October — from having finished Camp Loopy.
Vince: Oh . . pretty.
Me: What else do you see on the label?
Vince: Pure . . 100% Wool.
Me: Vince . . you’re not looking at it closely enough!
Vince: I can’t read it. It isn’t in English.
Me: Your name!!
Vince: Oh . . I see that.
Totally not excited. Didn’t ask “did they put everyone’s husband’s name on their skein?”
Oh well . . his not so observant nature helps in a lot of ways around here . . especially when packages are delivered. The other day there were three packages on the porch. He brought them in and walked back outside. One was something he had ordered. The other two were things I had ordered. I put his stuff in his chair. He came in and said “What was in the boxes?” I said “Your stuff is in your chair!” He never asked about the other boxes but he was talking to someone on the phone yesterday and he said “My wife gets at least one package a day so maybe he is noticing more than I thought he was.

Such funny Vince stories!

I’ll think that the yarn is named “Vincent” in honor of Vincent van Gogh. Those are the absolute colors he used in Starry Night. And swirled into the skein, even more of a match. Or maybe your Vince!
