Addie’s Chickens

This picture of Addie’s chickens makes me happy for several reasons.

First, there’s a peach tree in the background. Chad has planted half a dozen fruit trees.

Second, they have their lawn chairs out where they sit and watch the chickens every evening.

Third, Chad, Nicole and Addie built that little chicken coop. Chad said his neighbors all ask him to let his chickens run around in their yards to eat bugs. He does let them out in the evenings and they do seem to go into other yards . . which I wouldn’t do if they were mine but he said the neighbors will come out and talk to the chickens and give them treats.

The chicken in the doorway is Opal, Addie’s favorite. She was making all kinds of noise. Nicole said “That’s what she does any time one of the chickens lays an egg.” Nicole went out and sure enough, there was an egg in one of the boxes.

If y’all ever thought I had spoiled chickens, you should see these girls!
