Christina mentioned in comments (Thanks, Christina!) about a little ottoman for Boots. I found this one on Amazon for less than $25.
If it works, I’ll probably get another one to put in front of each bedroom window. It will be perfect for storage and will be a good place for him to sit and look out.
I will wrap it with an old sheet so I can wash it, and I don’t think it will show behind the little table next to my chair. It has memory foam on top so it should be comfy for him. It’s 15″ x 15″ x 15″ so it’s about perfect.
And, as Christina mentioned, it will give me more storage space for hiding my “stuff”.

How about making a cover with some of your fabric. Maybe put an elastic band around it so it stays put.

It won’t show from behind my table. For now, I plan to wrap it tightly in a sheet that’s nearly the same color as the curtain, tuck the sheet in at the bottom, then I can just grab it and wash it as needed. We have plenty of extra sheets.

so glad I came up with a good idea! Funny that we have 2 either side of a guest bed . As the top turns over and sits on top like a tray, more room for clutter!!! Seriously thinking of getting a few more, so brilliant at hiding “stuff£. As my husband wouldn’t think of looking in and I need one for all the charts I have ordered from Patchwork Rabbit. So excited as I am going over to collect and have a look around for as long as I like. They provide a table and chair and coffee! so time is not an issue. Oh Joy. Hope Boots takes to it, just a suggestion which worked with our Cavachon, i sat on it for a couple of days and then she thought she got one over me when she took up residence. Good luck
