It isn’t the transmission! So much for my knowledge of car repairs! 🙂
It’s the front axle. About $500 and it will be good for another 20 years! They’re going to go ahead and change the transmission fluid and filter – I think they said $125 for that. Small price to pay for keeping a vehicle that seems, by everything we read or hear, to be almost indestructible.

That’s great! My son is changing my alternator … slowly. I’ve been without a car for 10 days. You know what? It’s okay. There are some things I should have done, but they are just waiting. It’ll be what it is. I’m so glad yours isn’t costing you a lot.

Didn’t you say the front axle was fixed (replaced?) four or five years ago? I hope this one does last as long as you/Vince like!
Judy Laquidara says
Yes, but Vince has read that some of the after market axle parts have failed in a short time. And, when we got it back from having the axle parts replaced, I could still feel the vibration. Vince said it was better; I said it shouldn’t be doing it at all, and it’s gotten worse so probably the replacement parts weren’t 100% right from the beginning.
