Chad and Nicole came over this afternoon. I told them we’d eat around 3:30 so they got here a little after 2:00 and stayed til about 6:30 so it was a good visit. I love having these family visits. Makes me happy all over again that we moved here!
This morning Vince and I talked about going to eat or cooking at home. We considered grilling burgers but the weather seemed a little questionable so I decided to fix chicken picatta and make homemade pasta.
The one on the far right is the leftover squid ink pasta from last week. I saved a hunk of the dough before rolling and cutting it because I wanted Chad to try it but I was surprised it lost most of its color in the fridge.
We hadn’t had chicken picatta in a long time so it was great.
Homemade rolls and there were green beans. Dessert was monkey bread with ice cream, Magic Shell topping, whipped cream and cherries.
Addie is gone. She may have things going on next weekend so it may be two weeks before we see her again. Chad and Nicole did things with friends this weekend and went mushroom hunting.
He and Nicole went hunting yesterday morning and got a few but Chad went with a friend this morning and they got over 200. He brought me some so I’ll cook some of ours tomorrow. I wish the freeze dryer was set up. I’d like to try freeze drying some of them.
Now . . it’s cross stitching time!

Ah I wondered where you landed on bringing the freeze dryer. Glad you kept it.

Your chicken piccata looks wonderful!

It was great! I hadn’t made it in a long time. I had broth I had saved when I pressure cooked Rita’s chicken thighs the night before (bone in and skin on) so that made it even better.
