Racing Fan?

Last night Vince asked what plans I have for this morning. No plans! I think Chad and Nicole are coming here to get Addie though I offered to meet them halfway. They have something they want to do in Joplin but they won’t be here til afternoon . . around 3 I’m guessing.

Then Vince tells me how much he likes Formula 1 racing and he wanted to get up and watch the races this morning and the “pre-game” started around 7 a.m. No problem . . we’ll be up by then but wait . . in all the years I’ve known him, I’ve never heard him mention liking any kind of car racing.

I went to bed thinking . . that’s weird but then I remembered that he’d never heard me mention cross stitching til recently and look how that’s taken off.

Addie loves staying up late with me. In fact, Chad said “She loves coming to your house because y’all stay up half the night and sleep half the morning.” Not necessarily true but Friday night I went to bed about midnight. Addie still wasn’t ready for bed. I had not slept so great Thursday night because I’m a crazy woman . . had the doctor’s appointment on Friday and every tme I have to go somewhere the next day, I can’t sleep. Good thing my social calendar has little activity! Addie had been up early for school so I was hoping we’d both be in bed by midnight but it wasn’t happening for her so I told her to take her tablet and go to bed . . I couldn’t stay up any longer. I did get up a couple of times and check on her. Once she was still playing on her tablet and once she had turned it off but wasn’t asleep yet. I kinda whispered “Are you asleep?” and she said “yes”! 🙂

I was still up early yesterday morning but she slept til about 9:30. I did take a long nap yesterday afternoon and Addie didn’t but I could see by 9 p.m., she was starting to get sleepy. She looked at me around 10:30 and said “How are YOU still awake?” I told her it was because I had taken a nap but I rarely go to bed by 10:30. She said she was tired and going to bed. It wasn’t too long before I went to bed so when I went to check on her, she was asleep, with her tablet still on so I turned it off, plugged it in and I went to bed. Vince got up once during the night so I asked him to check on her and he did . . she was fine. I guess I’ll always feel like we need to “check on her” when she’s here.

So . . this morning, Vince is watching his new favorite racing downstairs, Addie is still sleeping, I’m doing laundry and trying to decide if I’m going to fix dinner for Chad and Nicole or if we’re going out for something. I thought about grilling burgers but it may rain and we don’t have a covered porch. I don’t even know what I feel like cooking or eating but I guess I should get up and go see what I can find in the freezer.
