Yesterday there was very little stitching time. We went back and forth to the storage building a couple of times. Well . . it was two times for the two of us but Vince went back two more times. I unpacked two big totes of dishes which mean re-arranging things in the cabinets. When I first got here, I had the essentials so I just stuck them out of sight but I knew there was way more coming and I’d do a better job of organizing once I got everything here.
In Texas, I had a cabinet for savory spices and a cabinet for sweet/baking spices. I had a third cabinet where I kept the large containers of things that I use a lot – oregano, minced dried onions, Lawry’s salt. Now, I have a large cabinet so I’m trying to keep the large containers on the top shelf and keep smaller containers that I can refill on the lower shelves, keep the sweet/baking spices on the middle shelf and the savory spices on the bottom shelf. We’ll see how that will work but I had already put things like gelatin, Sure Gel, cornstarch, baking powder and baking soda in there so . . the success of this plan all depends on whether there’s room for all the herbs and spices once they are all found.
I cooked. I do believe other than breakfast, that may have been Vince’s first home cooked meal and he had been here six nights! Poor Vince. Actually, he grilled steaks. I cooked smothered cabbage with sausage, baked potatoes and made a salad.
Then . . there was a nap. Vince went downtairs to watch The Masters tournament so I took a nap.
Anyway, I did find time for a few stitches – 88 stitches.
I was anxious to start on the letters so I was tempted to not finish the last two hearts and go right to the letters, then go back to the hearts later but I knew that would eat at me so I went ahead and finished the hearts. That little bit of self-discipline made me feel good!
The letters go pretty quickly so I’m hoping to get at least two rows of those done today. We will start the process of getting the vehicle inspected, get MO tags and get our driver’s licenses but I doubt that all happens today.

I am one of those who has a baking cupboard with spices and mixes, and a cooking cupboard with spices and sauces. Salt and pepper shakers, the garlic salt, minced dehydrated onions, and a mortons salt box live on the back of my range top.

About two years ago I redid my spice cupboard. I have a small kitchen and very little storage space. I found a site that has been the perfect system for me.
Go to Verticalspice.com It is space saving and easy to find what you need. From little jars, to normal spice jars to large and oversize ones too. I love them and have other friends who use the system as well.
