Maybe for the first time ever, I stitched over 500 stitches today.
It was a lot of work and if I hadn’t really wanted to do it, I would probably have stopped at about 400 but I kept stitching and got it . . almost 10% done too. I don’t think I’ll make a habit of stitching 500 stitches per day.
I actually got five hearts done but had taken a picture after 2-1/2 because I knew the phone battery was about to die.
For those who asked about the missing “J” and now the “U”, from what I’ve heard in youtube videos and read online, those two letters were so similar to the “I” and “V”, and were not used that often, so they were sometimes left off the samplers. That makes no sense to me . . maybe because my name has both those letters but if you’re going to stitch 24 letters, why not stitch 26? But . . I wasn’t around in the 1800’s so what do I know?

Hi Judy
WELL DONE, that was a marathon of stitching. Curiosity, how long were you stitching? I love the colours, oh its such fun to be sat peacefully stitching away when our screens are full of the sad news of our Prince Phillip’s death. I think the whole nation was expecting him to reach 100. Had to smile at a youngster interviewed about it and all she could say was “Wow he was so good looking , such a hunk” I’m shouting at the TV , yes, we weren’t all born looking old.
As i am hoping to travel to my sister in law after my 2nd vaccine soon, I want to take whatever i am stitching on to go with me. I feel a purpose made tote is needed, so i have been drawing up ideas as i have enough stash to play with.

I didn’t keep track of time. I was up before Vince so I probably stitched an hour before stopping to fix breakfast. Then I spent quite a bit of time with Boots. We ended up eating out even though I had planned to cook and we just ran down the road for dinner so that freed up more time for me to stitch. Maybe today I’ll kinda keep track of the time I’m stitching just for curiosity sake. So far, the day has been spent with making trips to the storage building and back. Vince is on his fourth trip. I made two and have unpacked and now I’m feeling like a nap is in order.

Having never made a sampler and hadn’t noticed the absent letters, I found this fascinating! Thanks for sharing!

Some people will add them in but some want to keep the reproduction samplers as close to exact replicas of the original as possible. It doesn’t bother me, at least not yet.
