Vince will always be my hero for getting that house and shop packed up in Texas. I don’t think I could have done it. I would not have had a problem saying “donate it all and we’ll buy new when we get there”. I’m still not sure with the cost of the movers, it was worth bringing everything. There’s very little we have that’s valuable.
But, it’s all here now so all we have to do is unpack. There’s still a lot of stuff being tossed and donated.
It seems like I’ve seen so many things I wanted to cook with the air fryer lately and I didn’t have an air fryer here. This morning we went to the storage buildings and I asked Vince if there was a chance he could find the air fryer. The first box he picked up said “Kitchen/Air Fryer”. I was so happy to get that. I bought some “reuben balls” at Aldi the other day hoping an air fryer would turn up somewhere. For dinner, we’re having baked potatoes and I always make extra to cook in the air fryer but I haven’t found the little inserts I use in the air fryer for those. I’m sure I have something else that will work.
They’re just inexpennsive Corel dishes but these are the ones I love, except I haven’t come across the saucers yet. I’m happy to have them back!
For 10 years the cherry pitter saw no action in Texas. I’m hoping I can find cherries here.
I’ve had this serving dish for as long as I can remember. I call it the potato salad dish. It’s so perfect for a big batch of potato salad!
Slowly, we are finding things we need and life is returning to normal.

Truly settling into your new home with the stuffs you love 🙂

When I saw the cherry pitter I thought it was a meat grinder, it looks similar to mine. When we moved several years ago my meat grinder was missing for a long time. I finally found it after five years or so in a box of fabric. I don’t know who packed that box, not me…

I am hoping when you discover your “little inserts for the baked potatoes in the air fryer” you will show them or link to them. I am keenly interested to see these.

This is the fun part of moving – getting it unpacked and finding places it will fit.

After having been separated from so many of the things I use often, I’m loving opening boxes but I’m sure after a while, it’s going to get old.

Oh, unpacking it will get old, for sure. When we moved into the big house with 4 kids and one in college, I unpacked a box and put all of the “office stuff” on a set of bookshelves next to the main stairs. Never thought about it until a year later. I happened to walk by it while looking for some office stuff and realized I had never moved any of that stuff in one year. Tsk, tsk, I got right on that job and put it all away.

The very first set of dishes that we had is Correlle, and I love them. We still use them every day! The classic Old Town Blue. Love them. Wish I could buy another set in that pattern so we would have more dishes.

Like you, my first set is one I can no longer get but I’ve just added the plain white to add more dishes to our set.
