We all knew there was going to be too much stuff but there is even more than too much. We rented two 10 x 20 storage units and had to rent a third. Vince said the owner of the storage units asked him “What are you going to do with all that stuff?” I can answer that . . pay to store it and then we’ll die and Chad will throw it all away!
Vince told me a dozen times that the only thing coming to the house was the freezer, fridge, recliner and chest of drawers.
I see a freezer, a fridge, a chest of drawers and the recliner is in the house but I see a whole lot more stuff.
The funny thing is that I’ve seen at least five sewing machines. They’re junk machines . . not collectible machines. I said “Why did you bring those?” He said “I’m going to become a sewing machine repairman extraordinaire!”
OK . . the world needs more amazing sewing machine repairmen but I’m betting that never happens.
I get nowhere with my questions:
Me: What’s in those totes?
Vince: Just stuff from the house.
Me: Plates? I want my Corelle plates.
Vince: No. I think the plates will be in the storage building.
Me: Are any of my spices in the totes?
Vince” No. I think spices will be in the storage building.
Me: So, do you have any idea what’s in the totes?
Vince: Just stuff from the house.
I think it will be a long time (like . . never) before we’re all completely unpacked.

We sold our house 6 years ago and stored all the contents while we were building !! Survived living in a small one bedroom apartment for 13 months , just the two of us . We had 5 storage units rented – sometimes towards the end of packing when you are overwhelmed you just fill boxes to get it all done and ready to move . Maybe that is what Vince has done . I know we moved things that we wonder why but we didt !!

Still no cookie molds? His brain was probably so tired that he may not have recognized them. So happy for you.
Judy Laquidara says
He found the cookie molds in early November and brought them to me when he came for Thanksgiving.

If you finish with the unpacking at home then send Vince for 5 boxes or totes a week from the storage room and you might make a dent in time. I have way to much stored here but not paying for storage.

After 7 years, we are still emptying the 2 storage units we rented. Unfortunately, we don’t make time for trips to empty the storage units. We go sporadically and on occasion, we find boxes/totes, etc. that we’ve been looking for the contents and it’s always so exciting!!
On the other hand, we have found some things (still good/great shape) that we’re not interested in any longer and they’ve been donated to charity.
Judy Laquidara says
The storage units are no more than a mile from our house so hopefully that will make iti easy for us to go grab a few every week and try to at least get it down to two units soon.
Dottie Newkirk says
Our storage units are about 2 miles away and I keep thinking we need to start planning to go over there for about an hour or so once a week and get them emptied out….maybe this will be the year we finish the job.

almost 2 years and there are things I expect I will never find. Doesnt help that when hubby gets bored he goes out and rearranges things in the garage and the shed….and then repacks totes but doesnt mark what is now in those totes – just leaves them marked what was in them. Never did find my Easter decos this year…..I had them last year though!

We have never found our Moravian Stars (3) purchased in Bethlehem, PA, the first trip we made to the east coast. We moved over 8 ears ago. I surely didn’t accidently put them in the wrong “pile”, did I?

I really want to move and downsize BUT there are so many treasures. We have 5 storage buildings and they seem to get fuller. I think like you, Judy, let the grandson worry with all of these treasures.
