The Texas house closed today. There were a couple of hiccups and at one point, it looked like it might not happen today but thanks to a great realtor, it’s all done. Vince should be less than two hours from here.
I thought I’d be more sad about the house being sold but I’m so happy to have it all behind us and have Vince almost here, that I’m not sad at all. I don’t know if it’s just me but sometimes, with something like the Texas house, garden and chickens, when I think about it, it’s almost like a story someone told me . . something that happened to them and not even something that happened to me. Is that weird? Don’t answer that! Between the lack of sleep last night and the closing/not closing/closing . . I’ve been on the verge of tears all day.
The movers . . those guys! They were supposed to spend today doing something else in Texas but now they’re saying they’ll be here at 10 in the morning. Only an upright freezer, a fridge, a chest of drawers and a recliner get delivered to the house. The rest goes to storage . . at least for now.
So . . we’re just an hour or so from Vince arriving, and we’ll begin to learn another new “normal”. I will sleep well tonight . . I will not be scared. Hopefully a smoke alarm will not beep. BUT, someone mentioned in comments that smoke alarms are supposed to be replaced every 10 years. I knew that for carbon monoxide detectors but it’s also true for smoke alarms. So, we need to find all of them . . there are at least 10, maybe 11 in this house, check the dates and replace them all. Something else to add to Vince’s list! 🙂

I’m glad to hear Vince is almost there! It’s been in the back of my mind all day about him driving that old truck all that way. I’ve checked your blog several times….glad to hear good news!

He’s here but the movers will show up tomorrow. We have so much to get done over the next week or so (license plates, driver’s license, convey all that to the insurance company, see if we can keep our medicare supplements or find new ones . . one step at a time).

Glad things are going well. 🙂 I have a question – since I had to sign up again to start receiving your blog posts, I’m getting them all at one time in the evening. Is there a way to change this so I receive them when they’re posted? I’d rather receive 6 separate posts during the day than to receive one in the evening with everything that’s gone on for the entire day all at once. Thanks!
Judy Laquidara says
I’ll have to see. I never knew that was possible to get individual posts but then someone told me they were getting them that way.

It is possible to simply type in “Patchworktimes.com” and arrive directly at Judy’s blog. It’s fun to visit throughout the day and see if there is a new post up. I can’t have blogposts in my email, demanding that I read them, so I just visit around.
