Remember when I couldn’t stop talking about how much I loved the Aged Hazelnut linen from XJu Design?. In this blog post, I shared a picture of two different pieces I had that were the same color but different. The one on the right is the golden tan that I love. It came from the dyer via Etsy. The one on the left is one I found at an online shop. I do love them both.
It’s the golden one that I decided to use it for Newcastle Bouquet. In that post, it shows a true color of the piece I love.
Because I really wanted more of the golden colored piece, I ordered a full yard of the Aged Hazelnut in each – 36 count and 40 count from the dyer (XJu Designs).
It arrived yesterday. I am not disappointed. I love XJu’s linens and these will all probably be some of the first linens I pull to use but I’m simply sharing that with hand dyed products, it is not uncommon for them all to be totally different.
In the above photo, the smaller piece on the right is the one I originally received from the dyer. The one in the back is from the retail shop. The front left and center pieces are the ones I special ordered from the designer and they arrived yesterday.
I’ve heard that different counts will dye up differently. The one on the left and the one on the right are 40 count. The one in the center and the one in the back are 36 count.
Before I ordered the full yard pieces, I thought about whether I would want half a dozen or more pieces made from the exact same color. When I look at pictures of groups of stitched pieces, I love seeing a variety of fabrics used. With these pieces, there’s enough variety in the colors that all my pieces aren’t going to look like they were stitched on the same color.
Again, I am not disappointed. I love it and getting anything from XJu makes me happy. I would buy it all again even knowing the colors were going to be different. Even though I have plenty of Aged Hazelnut, if I ever I see it again and it looks like that golden piece, I may be tempted to order more!

Love the colours. I’ve been looking for a certain pattern, in doing so I have found 2 charts I love and large pieced of 32CT Oxford blue, natural hessian colour 28ct linen! I have always used 18th and smaller Aida. I just never remember buying linen. Makes me excited to have a play.
I absolutely in love with my piece of linen from Xju design colour Squirrel! !!! Gorgeous.

I tried to order Squirrel twice and missed out both times. Any idea what you’ll stitch on it?

Hi Judy
Because it’s such a rich colour my vintage threads are too weak for my liking. One of my old charts calls for 14 colours, but as I look at the chart which is in black and white, I think I will do a form of blackwork! But in bark (dark brown) or dark green even. As you see have linen , have chart, still undecided on which colour any ideas greatly welcomed.

Isn’t it fun choosing colors? I love that we have so many choices.
Are you wanting to use two colors? Sending you an email.

I have some XJu Aida on order so looking forward to trying that.

I probably haven’t tried any of the linens the famous stitchers rave about but so far, XJu is my favorite. I hope you love the Aida. I’m betting it will be gorgeous.

Denise, can you send me a link to the Xju shop with the Aida? I think I might just try cross stitching again.
