Every day I have some little area that I plan to clean out. Today it was a tub that was just a catch all for things that didn’t get into a box of like things. One of the things in there was a pair of socks that had been started. Actually, it was started before I began doing all socks two at a time so it was just one sock.
They were knitted a bit loose or my liking, one of the needles was broken, the pattern wasn’t great for the yarn colors so I decided to pull the needle out and toss the project. I have enough yarn that I don’t need to sit and unwind almost an entire sock.
Thankfully I had just taken the trash out and had a clean bag in the can because the minute the yarn hit the can, I remembered that this was my Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts yarn and the color is Tortoise Shell (which The Loopy Ewe doesn’t currently have in stock). See why I can never throw anything out, and yet I laugh because Vince can’t throw anything out.
Cat is a tortoise shell cat! The yarn is almost a perfect match to Cat but towards the center of the ball, the yarn gets very light.
I’ll probably use the yarn for a plain vanilla pair of socks so no pattern will interfere with the color. These will be my tribute to or memory of Cat. I’ll probably finish them, and leave them in my sock drawer and never wear them because I don’t want to lose them or wear them out. Every time I open my sock drawer, I’ll think of her.

There must be a pattern for knitting a cat “doll”. Then, you can use it like a small pillow and be able to hug on Cat whenever you want!

I was never able to hug Cat so making a Cat look alike doll to hug would be a bit of a stretch. What I would need would be a cat pillow that hisses at me when I look at it. 🙂

Judy, you crack me up! I bought this yarn because you were knitting it into socks! It’s still in my stash though.
Judy Laquidara says
Well, get it out and let’s get it knitted and we can both think happy thoughts for Cat!

What about sending the socks when you get them made to the new owner since she will be there taking care of CAT!…..Catching up on your blog. Paula in KY

Aw, how sweet!
A friend has a “dilute tortoiseshell” cat. That’s what the center of the yarn look like!
