Several had asked about the weather app I use that calls my phone. It’s Code Red by Onsolve. I’ve used it for years. Vince and I both have it on our phones so often the weather radio would be going off and both our phones would be ringing.
I’m sure there are multiple similar apps but that’s the one we use and I have changed it to this location after getting the alarm last night, going to the basement and then realizing it was an alert for the house in Texas. The weather radio is still in Texas so the app on my phone is all I have here.
One thing I like is that I can change the distance for which it sends me alarms. I have it set to 10 miles but could make it 5 miles or make it more miles. I don’t want to get every alarm that isn’t going to affect me but I do like to know if there’s one about to come my way.
No doubt I’ll get more alarms here than I did in Texas but I’ve never found it to be one that drives you crazy with alarms.
One more thing I like – you can set it to a particular ring tone so when it goes off in the middle of the night, your first thought isn’t that something has happened to a family member . . you know it’s an alert and probably time to get up and move to safety.

I use Code Red also. Our county also sends emergency notifications with it. I’m in Texas and got quite a few messages during out big freeze relating to power and water issues. I like that you can choose what you want to get. Mostly I want tornado warnings. I could care less about most of the others.
