I’ve mentioned Jean Farish on here before. She’s started a Mystery Stitch Along using a sampler chart, Roxie. The link will take you to the chart on Etsy. The SAL began on March 1 but it isn’t too late to join. I’m still trying to decide on a fabric.
The reason I’m mentioning this is that Jean shares videos with each monthly segment. Last night I started watching her video. The first one is almost 2-1/2 hours but she gives you the time spot where she discusses each topic so if you only want to see one part, it’s easy to find. BUT . . that lady knows more about cross stitching than most of us will ever learn. I watched maybe 20 minutes of the video last night and I’m glad Vince wasn’t here. He’d be giving me the evil eye. I kept talking to myself .. “I didn’t know that!” or “Oh, stop! I have to watch that again”
So . . if you’re new to cross stitching or back into it after a long hiatus, and if you want to learn from a true expert, even if you don’t plan to stitch Roxie, for $15, I feel like I’m getting way more instruction and knowledge than I’d get spending a week at some cross stitching academy.
I can hardly wait to get everything done that I need to get done this morning so I can watch more of that video, and make a few stitches to see if my work has improved after what I learned last night.

I only recently learned of Jean from one of her floss tubes popping up. Her stitching is impressive. I want to do Roxy also and when I commented on something she has posted on FB, she said it wasn’t to late to join in. I keep thinking about it. I should just do it and watch the videos while I gather the supplies.

I thought she just said it wasn’t too late to join but I could be wrong. I think it’s too late to get her kit but the pattern/videos are still available to purchase on Etsy.

I am working on this. It is wonderful and she is a great teacher. You can still join, just purchase the chart on her etsy site and pick your own fabric. The kits she put together originally have Cosmo floss but the chart has DMC numbers as well. There is a chart for linen and another chart if anyone wants to use Aida. You won’t be disappointed.
Judy Laquidara says
Romonia, Did you get her kit or are you using your own fabric/floss?
Romonia Dinkla says
I got the kit. It is beautiful floss, hoping I don’t make so many mistakes that I run out though. 🙂
Judy Laquidara says
I first ordered the DMC but after seeing Jean’s stitching, I ordered the Cosmo so I’m waiting for it to arrive. Had to order from four different places to get it all.
Laura Haynes says
What makes the Cosmos thread seem more special than the DMC?
Judy Laquidara says
I don’t know. I’ve never used them. I think I read that the staple thread is longer. In Jean Farish’s picture, they look like they have a bit of a shine to them but that may just be the camera.
