Adjusting to the time change gets harder with every year. I don’t remember it affecting Speck but Rita seems to have a built in clock and it takes a while for her to adjust also. When it gets to be 5:00, she is ready to eat and is pretty demanding about it. For a few weeks, she’ll get fed at 4:00, then I feel like she needs a spoonful or so of food later so she’s not starving by the time I feed her again in the morning. Vince and I always laugh because she goes to her food bowl and starts barking at almost exactly 5 p.m. and we try to tell her “it’s really 4!” but she never gets that. 🙂
Chad said they were going to try to leave before 6 this morning and I said “NO! That’s really 5.” They ended up leaving about 6:30. Nicole came upstairs and woke me about 6 . . which was way too early because we all stayed up too late last night.
For the first few months, Vince will say “It’s 6 but the real time is 5” and I keep saying “The real time is what time the clock says because that’s what we have to go by!” I laughed at myself when I told Chad last night “The real time is . . ” but on this first day, the real time is stuck in my head.
I’m betting today will be a good day for a nap.

Aww Judy
Here in the UK Our clocks go forward last Sunday in March so that’s 28th. I always hate it as I sleep so poorly and knowing I’ve lost an hour makes it worse! My other half is the other end of the day. Time for bed is always for the first week accompanied by yes but it’s only 9pm. All i say is Good luck with that when you have to leave for school at 7.30 am . Here there’s always a debate as if its necessary but that’s as far as it goes. You will be used to your time change when ours happens. But not my 2 wee dogs, it takes them at least a month.

I actually LOVE Daylight Saving Time and the extra evening light! I’ve never experienced any problems. The only change I ever made was to put light towels over the windows for bedtime when my children were small. I would actually be happy if we just went to that time adjustment permanently. That becomes a win-win – more evening light, and not changing the clocks/sleep habits.

Ah, someone in my corner! Where I grew up was far north of here, and west, also, and the sun set SO much later. I’m a night owl and realy do not care what time it rises!
If not for the time change, the sun would not set later than 7:00 here, which is just too early. It puts the “evening” in the late afternoon hours, and night when it should just be evening! Eight (o’clock) ain’t great, but better than 7:00!

We never change our clocks in Arizona and I love it although we get dark much earlier than everyone else. I like longer days but I don’t like having to change all the clocks. I hope everyone has an easy adjustment to the time change!

LOL That created a situation for us the first time we went to AZ years ago…we called one of our sons back home who was sound asleep and wasn’t excited just to visit about how everyone was doing!! This time change is such a simple thing that those people in DC could end. Absolutely do not understand why it’s talked about and never gets done!! Spring is not as difficult for me to adjust to as the fall change! My husband always started talking about what time “it really is” the night before a change!

That makes so much more sense to me. The daylight hours are the same – we’re just screwing with the clock and our heads! But, I guess that’s why I’m the one sitting in my living room cross stitching, knitting and eating donuts while others are making decisions that control our lives.

A nap definitely sounds good!!

I took a good, long (probably too long) nap and woke feeling 100% better.

Growing up in Virginia, we were near the Virginia/North Carolina state line, and we had television viewing from the networks from stations in Roanoke, VA and Greensboro, NC… Virginia observed daylight savings time, but North Carolina did not….soooo…. for the months we were on daylight savings time we could watch some shows twice, and some shows we missed together! Fun times!!!
Judy Laquidara says
That has to be weird! I guess more weird for people who weren’t used to it.

I’m spoiled by living so many years in Arizona, and I can hardly wait to get back to no time change! It messes up my biorhythms something terrible!
