Sometimes, you just have to accept that something is not meant to be and I think spending a day in my pjs is not in the cards for me.
That’s ok because I’m getting to spend the day with this girl.
I will trade pajamas for a day with her any day. She did remind me that she has on her pajamas!
Last night I was getting out of the shower a little after midnight and there was lightning that lit up the entire room and then a booming, roaring thunder and then . . Rita went berserk! At 1 a.m., it was still thundering and she was still barking. By 2 and 3 a.m., I was dozing off for a few minutes before her barking woke me every 10 minutes or so. Rita sleeps in the breakfast room in her little “pen” with her comfy Serta bed and her heating pad. By 4 a.m. I got up, got a crate out of the garage, put it in the laundry room, which is a little farther from our room than the breakfast room, put a small dog bed in the crate, covered it with a quilt to hopefully keep a bit of the thunder noise out and a bit of the barking noise in, closed the laundry room door and went back to bed. The breakfast room is all windows on two sides and even though she can’t see, the thunder was probably louder right next to the windows and the laundry room has no windows and is not on an outside wall. I could still hear her barking but only because I was awake already. I don’t think she would have awakened me if she had been in the laundry room all night. Lesson learned . . either I sleep in the basement on stormy nights or Rita sleeps in the laundry room.
I did go back to sleep but my phone rang at 7:30. It was Nicole. They started to Louisiana today for spring break, got as far as Joplin and had to stop because of car problems so they came by here, dropped Addie off, went to the Chevy dealer to see if they would put it on the computer but they couldn’t/wouldn’t so they left Addie here. Chad and Nicole have gone to buy a new car! If they get a car, they’re coming back here and spending the night, then leaving for Louisiana in the morning.
They hadn’t stopped for breakfast yet, Addie was hungry, and disappointed about not getting to go to Louisiana so I said “How about we go get donuts?” Ahhh . . that made her happy (and it made me happy!)
There’s a place near here that has the best donuts. I try to stay away from there but for Addie, I did it! 🙂
And, it all meant another day I wasn’t able to stay in my PJs.

Those doughnuts look DELICIOUS!!!
Twyla says
Oh!!Happy Day!! The girl is here! even though not in your jammies there were donuts! Great trade off.
Judy Laquidara says
Yes! I’ll get dressed any day to get to see her.
Kim Webb says
Ok I have to ask. Do you truly mean you spend the whole day in PJ’s?
I have never heard of such a thing.
Donna in KS says
Yes! It CAN happen. it’s a good day!!
Judy Laquidara says
Oh, my goodness! Yes! The whole day. I love doing that but obviously it isn’t so easy to do. I often don’t leave the house for weeks and weeks (maybe months!) so why get dressed and put on makeup, especially when I’m home alone and not a soul sees me?? When Vince is here, I rarely do it but these last few months, I’ve tried to have a pajama day at least once a week.
Phyllis says
Had never had a pajama day until Covid struck. at age 77, found that they are quite delightful. My Mother would have thought that was the height of laziness.
Susan Nixon says
I hope they went to a different dealer to get their car! I hope they found a wonderful deal somewhere. You can have pj day next week. =)
Judy Laquidara says
Yes. They did. They were saying how crazy it was that the dealer in Joplin didn’t even give them the time of day.
