As soon as we bought the house in MO, Vince started talking about wanting to buy a place on the water or even a small farm that hopefully had a creek running through it. I’ve never been in favor of having two places – it’s more work to me than it’s worth. It’s two places to cut grass, trim weeds, spray for bugs, fix faucets and leaky toilets. It’s frustrating to try to keep pantries/freezers stocked so that we’re not having to bring groceries to the “camp” every time we go but . . Vince agreed to move to Missouri for me so there was no way I’d voice anything but enthusiasm for his plans to have what he wants.
We were talking a day or so ago and I told him that even though he isn’t ready to buy something right now, spring is a good time to drive around the area, look at places, maybe find a VRBO place to stay if we want to go a bit farther and do more exploring.
He told me that he had been thinking about that and he’s about decided he doesn’t want to do it. His main concern is security. A place in the country with no one living there full time is an invitation for uninvited visitors. We talked about it and I told him that for the cost of property taxes and insurance, we could about go somewhere for a week every month and stay in a VRBO. There are so many pretty places within a two hour drive of here – lakes in Oklahoma, Arkansas and southern MO. He said that once he gets here and we get a bit settled, he needs a break.
I started looking at VRBO properties in southwest MO. There are so many nice places. I need for him to decide where he wants to go; what he wants to do and I’ll find a place for us. We’ll have to board Boots, which probably isn’t going to help his attitude, and we’ll take Rita. Sounds like fun times ahead.
I’m not mentioning this to Vince because I want this to be where HE wants to go but my favorite restaurant is in Cassville, MO and there’s a needle shop in Branson. So . . if he were to want to go anywhere near either of those places, I’d be real happy! 🙂

We stayed at one in Blue Eye, MO. Could walk right down to the lake and not far from Branson.

Sounds great! Vince can do whatever he wants to do at the lake and I can go to the cross stitching shop! 🙂

Hey Judy
Can you explain what VRBO means for this Brit here in the UK.
