Yesterday evening Chad and Nicole came to get Addie. Sometimes I go all the way to their house, sometimes we meet halfway and sometime they come here. Yesterday they wanted to do something in Joplin so they came here. They did whatever they had to do in Joplin, then stopped and got pizza and brought it here so that was nice.
Chad was so determined he was going to figure out what was wrong with Boots. He went down and held and petted Boots for a while, then he brought Boots up and right off the bat, Chad realized he was a different cat upstairs. Chad took him back downstairs. Nicole and Addie went down to play with Boots too. After a while, Addie came running up and said “Daddy is bringing a picture and he’s going to say you were young and skinny!”
Sure enough he said “Mom, look at this picture!” I said “I bet I was young and skinny!” Chad said “SO young and skinny.” I looked at the picture and told Chad I was at least 41 in that picture and explained to him that in a few short years, he’s going to be 65+ and overweight too!
Addie took home a handful of pictures that she wants to “keep forever”. I asked if she took the one of when I was young and skinny and she said “of course!”
The young and skinny days are over for me but that doesn’t bother me at all. I wouldn’t trade the life I have now for the life I had then for anything!

I’m with you, Judy! I was very thin in my 20s and 30s, and now I’m in my 60s … and those “thin” days are long gone! But I’m a lot happier now than I was then.

Probably lots of us in this age group in that same boat. Like you, I’m much happier now than I was then but I do need to lose a bit of weight just to get back to healthier weight level but the skinny days are gone for good.

Those years sneak up on us faster than we would like, too! 🙂

Could it be because of the dog upstairs?
Judy Laquidara says
It could be anything. At first, I thought it wasn’t the dog because Boots had been here several months before he started this and he had been around Rita some in the sewing room but that this point, I’m not ruling anything out.

Yep, my young and skinny days are gone too. But I have pictures to prove I once was young and skinny. And my husband has pictures to show he was young and had a lot more hair. He’s still skinny as a rail.

Hallelujah, say amen! Except for one thing – I had Paul then. I’d trade for that. =) But otherwise, no, fat and sassy is okay by me.
