Today was the inspection for the house in Texas. Those things always make me nervous. Even though we didn’t think there was anything wrong with the house, when you live somewhere nine years, you sometimes don’t even notice things that aren’t right. Well, Vince would say that NEVER happens with me because I notice things that I think are a big deal and Vince never thinks it’s a big deal.
I was looking at the listing today to see if the realtor had shown it pending yet and I had to laugh. You know how no matter what part of our place I was photographing, there was always a water hose in the picture. There it is . . front and center in the photo of the house . . a water hose!
The inspector found two things. Vince had put new faucets in the master bath . . maybe 6 months ago. He broke some little clip so the faucets weren’t tight. He bought the parts to fix them but can’t find them so he asked our realtor to go by Home Depot and get them and bring them (really Vince?). She forgot. I would have forgotten too! So that has to be fixed.
Second, probably 7 years ago, one latch thing on the toilet seat in the second bathroom broke. That’s the bathroom I use so I’ve asked several times to have it fixed. It was ok so long as I didn’t take a flying leap to the toilet and then the seat would almost slide off the toilet. When we had the water heater replaced last year, the plumber changed out the wax seals on both toilets and I told Vince I was going to get him to put on a new seat. NO!! Vince actually had bought a seat . . probably 6 years ago but . . still not replaced so the inspector found that.
Finding just those two things wasn’t bad. Vince said the inspector said he checked really closely for foundation problems because they’re common on that area but he said we had a great foundation. The inspector ended up wanting two generators Vince was going to sell.
Everything seems to be going along smoothly. The buyers are so anxious to get in and aren’t terribly thrilled with pushing the closing back but we can’t move til we have movers and I do think they understand.

Fantastic News! So happy for you!

Tell the sellers you will give them ten bucks to fix it themselves. Geez, those are so minor! Congratulations on selling. I didn’t get a chance to say that the other day.

So glad that everything is going so well on the sale. When we’re done with this place, the best thing that could happen to it is someone sets a match to it!! 🙂 Yes, it really is that bad. But still very happy that things are moving right along for you! Before you know it, Vince will be around everyday, bugging you to run to the store with him!! 🙂 🙂

It definitely isn’t a perfect place for most people but it was perfect for us for a while and the buyers seem really excited to get it. It wasn’t fancy for sure and home never has to be fancy to be the place we love spending our time.

It can be hard to say goodbye to a place you’ve lived 9 years, especially when it was so suited to you. We, on the other hand, had no problem leaving the place we had rented for 17+ years…the only thing I miss is the back yard and the big trees.
Only TWO items?? I thought we were doing well when we had just 10 in our new place! I’ve heard inspections can have dozens and dozens of items. Good for you! One more thing that’s easier.

Two items? Wow, you really maintained that house well! I think we had 4 page lists on both houses which included some rather pricy repairs. (Knob and tube wiring? Mold remediation? Fortunately the seller paid for those, we just had to have them done!) So happy things are going so smoothly…this was just meant to be!

Yes, we had tried to stay on top of things. Had it not been for too much stuff and clutter, it would have been an easy move.

‘a flying leap’? haven’t we all done that? Love your writing, your sense of the situation! Vince is like most men, wonderful! So glad that all is going well. We all knew that together you and Vince had enhanced that property, you were fantastic stewards of it.
