This morning Vince and I were talking and he was telling me about something he went to buy and the price had gone up a huge amount. Then he was talking about a couple of other things that have gone up. He said something like . . I’m glad we have everything we need and shouldn’t have to buy anything for a long time. We have clothes, shoes, groceries, hobby supplies . .
Hmmmm . . we may need to talk about those hobby supplies! 🙂
I wanted to say . . CAR and TRUCK but didn’t. He actually did tell me that we should start thinking about a car but now I’m the one saying “Why?” We’re never going to go far so the Highlander is fine and we’ve just spent a boatload of money on the Honda and the pickup so, assuming the pickup makes it here, I’m not inclined to buy a car. A car to me is something to get me from here to there and since there are few trips and most of them are less than 10 miles from home, we don’t need a new car. The first time we have a problem with my car, I’ll be singng a different tune.
After we hung up, I kept thinking about that gorgeous Aged Hazelnut fabric.
I know there’s always a new, shiny object around the corner that will catch my attention but I am obsessed with this color of linen right now. Every chart I see would look great on that fabric.
Sorry I’m too lazy to take them out of plastic but left to right – Reindeer Games by Erica Michaels, Catharine Dickenson 1840 by Scattered Seed Samplers and Always Thankful by Erica Michaels. Since my word for 2021 is “thankful”, that was a required purchase!
I’ve mentioned on here before, and gave an example about a purple dress I once wanted and didn’t buy, went back to get and it was gone, and 40 years later, I’m still wishing I had bought that purple dress. So, my rule is this: When I see something that I can’t stop thinking about, I should get it.
I contacted XJuDesign and she did a “reserved purchase” for me. I ordered a 36 count piece and a 40 count piece.
She is overseas so I have no idea how long it takes to get here but she has to dye the fabric and I’m hoping she has the linen in stock. Doesn’t matter except the first week in April is when Vince will be here. He isn’t going to say anything when a few packages arrive every now and then but he wouldn’t be too happy with LOTS of packages arriving so . . officially the ordering cross stitch supplies has ended. I’ll still order something if I need it but need vs. want has taken on a whole new meaning now. 🙂

Your purple dress story reminds me of a pair of white sandals that I found 30+ years ago. I loved the look, they fit PERFECTLY (which, for me is a rarity) but I didn’t want to spend the $$ for them. After trying other white sandals at different locations for the next few days (less expensive, didn’t LOVE them, none of them fit as well) and broke down and decided to get the “perfect” sandals. Like your purple dress, they were gone.

Lesson learned! 🙂

I have been putting a lot of stuff in my wish list on 123 stitch….I’ve decided to do this rather than buy all that I want. I’ll finish a project and start another and then I’ll buy a couple more. The thing I have found is that I don’t like them as well as when I first saw them….so I will delete the ones I don’t care for as much….maybe it will keep me more on track…or maybe not….hahaha

True! Thank goodness the fabric and floss can always be used on other projects. It’s just so frustrating not being able to get things so I’m happy with what I’ve ordered but, we all know . . all good things come to an end and for my online ordering, the end is very near! 🙂

I agree! I will buy a fabric that I fall in love with, even if I don’t have a “purpose” for it. I have talked myself out of it a few times, but that won’t happen again! (I didn’t buy a necklace one time and it was gone the next time I was in that gift shop! I still think about it.)

Yes! And if I get something I really love and keep thinking how much I love it . . I may get more without every having used the first one. Like that Aged Hazelnut linen. I know I’m going to love that so I don’t mind getting more before having used the first piece.
