Not often I have something done by the time I had planned to have it done but I finished the first block last night.
I even got a bit of the border done for the March block. I’m hoping to finish the March block border today, the April block border on Sunday and if I finish those up early, I’ll start on the outer border.

it is gorgeous. sometimes when i am doing long stretches of the same color, i will do all the half crosses going one way and then do the half crosses going the other way. don’t know if it saves time or floss but it is just something i have started doing. i am glad you are enjoying the cross stitching, but i am waiting for you to fall in love with quilting again. i haven’t done much sewing for a couple of years for various reasons and really want to get back into it. i have a ton of baby size quilt tops that are all packaged with backing and batting and binding fabric and want to get them done and gone but have had so many issues with where i am going to spend the majority of my time and having energy and initiative to make decisions and get up and do things, that that has all taken a back seat. i have been doing some hand embroidery and cross stitching lately, though. i ordered the pattern for the newest santa as i think my daughter in law will like it. she likes owls.

I sometimes make half crosses when I’m using DMC floss but when using the overdyed floss, it’s best to make full crosses to get the shading.
One Vince gets here and we get organized again, I’ll probably start sewing. I kinda don’t like being in the basement when he’s not here. I feel like I’ve been put in the corner. I go down for a couple of hours in the morning and longer in the afternoon but I sit and knit or stitch with Boots.

Is block 1 February? Did you skip that month?
Judy Laquidara says
Block 1 is February and that’s the block I did. I’m working on the inner border for the March block, which will be Block 2. I didn’t skip a month . . or at least I don’t think I did! 🙂
Suzette Harris says
Hmmm…where does January go then? Lol!! Am I being too logical?
Judy Laquidara says
You’re being too logical. There are nine squares to the entire pattern. They can be done as nine separate little pieces or put together with an outer border. The actual pattern doesn’t mention months. We decided in late December or early January to do them but since it was hard to get linen and floss, we put off starting til February so we should finish the last one in October and still have time to finish the outer border and have it framed if we’re doing it ourselves or have a quick framer.

I love this! You’re making me want to try cross stitch again. No. No! I’m NOT going g down another rabbit hole!
Judy Laquidara says
Do it, Sandi! Do it!
