I watch a lot of flosstubes. Mostly, they’re on while I’m cross stitching and I stop every now and then to order what they’re making. Since I mostly like Americana type things and reproduction vintage samplers, the colors I use are tans . . more along the lines of fabrics that look tea or coffee dyed. I do have a few . . like 1 or 2 . . light . . kinda white linens and a couple of pale yellow linens.
Every now and then I’ll see a chart that is shown on some color that is a bit different from what I prefer. The other day I was thinking . . as hard as it is to find linen, when I see some of those weird colors, I should get them just to have them because one day I’m going to need them.
Today they arrived and whoa . . they are different from everything else I have.
Hey . . there is a tan one in there. I like that darker brown too. The one between the blue and tan is kinda lavender-ish.
The purple one has sparkles! Darn! It looks more blue or gray but in real life, it’s a blue with purple tones.
Those are going to go into the 32 count drawer (they’re all 32 count) and when I need something a bit bright . . I’ll have it right there handy.

Working with those background will be no different then using them in quilting. You might have to adjust the thread colors so they show up better but that’s no problem for you. I do like the all those colors but then I’m not a stitcher like you, yet. I did buy one little small kit, just to taste the waters but can’t seem to find time with all the quilting going on here. 😉

I found that it’s much easier to find time for cross stitching because I can do it when I’m waiting for water to boil, or waiting for Vince to be ready for bed (assuming some day he’ll be going to bed where I’m going to bed!). Five minutes of cross stitching gets a lot done where 5 minutes of quilting means I turned the machine on, threaded the machine (since I unthread it and hide the thread because of Boots), found my scissors and now it’s time to stop and go back to what I was doing.
Cross stitching isn’t for everyone and at first, I thought I might not like it but now I love it and find it so relaxing.

I think I would remove those stickers, put them on notecards, and pin the notecards to the fabric. I’d be worried that as they age they may discolor the fabric.
I really like the sparkly one!

Not necessary. They’re on the edge and we leave 3″ around every piece. It takes about 2″ to frame and another part of an inch for the border so that part is either cut off or on the back side of the framing board.

Just wondering where you found these lovelies…I used to cross stitch for many years, but I have been collecting some things to start again. Those are different from any linen I have.

Most of the linen I’m finding now is on Etsy. It’s just so hard to get it in a shop. I like Zwiegart base linen so I look for dyers that use it. XJuDesign is one of my favorites. They have their own Etsy shop but they’re in Hungary so it takes a bit longer. Needle Case Goodies on Etsy has good linen and they’re very prompt with shipping but when you find something you want, grab it because it sells quickly.
